Job Description
Black & Grey HR is seeking a Head of Engineeringfor awell-established player in the regional logistics industry. The selected candidate will be responsible for leading and managing all engineering, maintenance, and infrastructure development activities across various ports. This includes oversight of marine and landside assets, ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery of engineering projects, maintaining regulatory compliance, and supporting the organization’s Sustainability goals. The role ensures operational reliability, safety, and efficiency through strategic leadership and technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Engineering Strategy & Execution
- Plan and implement engineering strategies aligned with business goals.
- Share best practices with global teams to improve performance.
- Work with local partners to manage project costs and ensure value.
- Make sure electrical systems on cranes and other equipment work properly as per OEM standards.
- Ensure all maintenance work follows standard procedures.
2. Operational Excellence & Equipment Reliability
Track equipment performance to reduce downtime and support smooth port operations.Manage maintenance, power, and fuel costs within budget.Keep maintenance processes up to date with safety and legal standards.3. Infrastructure & Asset Management
Improve procurement, tendering, inventory, and asset management processes.Lead decisions on upgrading, replacing, or buying equipment.4. Budget & Cost Control
Create and manage engineering budgets for each port.Track expenses, analyze differences, and take corrective actions when needed.5. Stakeholder Coordination & Compliance
Maintain strong ties with port authorities and industry groups.Coordinate with safety, operations, and planning teams to ensure all engineering activities meet company standards and regulations.Requirements
Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.10+ years of engineering management experience, preferably in port or marine infrastructure.At least 5 years in a senior leadership position overseeing multi-site operations.Demonstrated experience in capital project execution and infrastructure development.In-depth knowledge of port engineering regulations and marine operations.Hands-on expertise in PLC, Drives, and Control Systems.Proficient in engineering tools such as AutoCAD, Primavera / MS Project, and ERP systems.Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities.Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of subcontinent languages is a plus.Benefits
