Job summary

Atco Group in the United Arab Emirates is seeking a Head of Design & Estimation to lead engineering design and estimation for LV power distribution panels, ensuring compliance with IEC standards and manufacturing guidelines, and supporting project execution from inquiry through production.

You will manage the design and estimation team, review electrical drawings and schematics, prepare BOMs and cost estimates, coordinate with production, procurement and quality, and drive continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering required.
• Minimum 6 years of electrical design and estimation experience.
• Experience in LV power distribution panels or similar products.
• Experience in manufacturing environment preferred.

Job Summary

The Head of Design amp Estimation will lead the engineering design and estimation activities for a manufacturing facility specializing in Low Voltage LV Power Distribution Panels The role is responsible for managing the design team preparing technical and commercial estimations ensuring compliance with applicable standards and manufacturing guidelines and supporting project execution from inquiry through production.

Job Responsibilities

Design Management

• Lead and manage all engineering design activities related to LV power distribution panels
• Review and approve electrical drawings schematics single-line diagrams and panel layouts
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant IEC standards customer specifications and company manufacturing guidelines
• Coordinate with production procurement quality and project teams to ensure design accuracy and manufacturability
• Implement engineering best practices and continuous improvement initiatives

Estimation amp Tendering

• Review customer inquiries tender documents and technical specifications
• Prepare accurate cost estimates bills of materials BOMs and technical proposals
• Analyze project requirements and support commercial teams during tender submissions
• Optimize design solutions to achieve cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality and compliance

Team Leadership

• Lead mentor and develop the design and estimation team
• Allocate resources and monitor project workloads to meet deadlines
• Conduct design reviews and ensure quality standards are maintained
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment

Technical Support

• Provide technical guidance during project execution and manufacturing
• Support factory testing inspections and customer technical clarifications
• Resolve engineering issues and recommend practical design solutions

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (Mandatory). Professional certifications related to electrical engineering or project management are an advantage.

Experience

Minimum 6 years of experience in electrical engineering, design, and estimation. Proven experience managing engineering design for Low Voltage Power Distribution Panels or similar electrical products. Experience in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of LV switchboards, distribution panels, motor control centers (MCC), and power distribution systems.
• Familiarity with IEC standards and industry regulations.
• Ability to prepare technical calculations, BOMs, and cost estimations.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and relevant electrical design software.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes and production requirements.
• Working with any OEM s (Schneider/ABB/Siemens/Eaton) Panels is highly preferred.
• Hands-on experience in using EPlan software.
• Hands-on experience in different design studies like short circuit, relay coordination, plc programing etc.
