Worley is now looking for a Project Engineering Manager for our Abu Dhabi office.

General Purpose of Role

Leading the Mechanical Engineering discipline, providing technical direction and oversight aligned with company standards. Responsible for guiding team development, assigning personnel to projects, and ensuring engineering deliverables meet organizational expectations.

Business Development Support

  • Supports business development by maintaining professional profiles and resumes, identifying current capabilities, and planning for future customer needs.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with clients, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Participates in networking, strategic partnerships, and cost optimization initiatives.
  • May contribute to proposals by defining execution strategies, estimating costs, writing content, and presenting to clients.
  • May lead portions or the entirety of proposal development.

Business Operations

  • Participates in budgeting and ensures operations are aligned with financial goals.
  • Oversees staffing levels, team structure, and discipline-specific frameworks.
  • Manages software licensing, usage, and skill development for team members.
  • Develops and maintains engineering guidelines and oversees mentoring / training programs.
  • Supports the performance management process and ensures business continuity during team transitions.
  • Contributes to issue resolution and ensures compliance with health, safety, environmental, and security policies.

Technical Competency

  • Oversees technical quality and capability programs within the discipline.
  • Ensures team compliance with company processes, industry standards, legal requirements, and client specifications.
  • Promotes the use of standardized documentation and specifications across projects.
  • Appoints qualified team members for peer reviews and quality checks.

Project Execution

  • Supports project delivery through resource management and adherence to guidelines.
  • May assist in developing execution strategies and addressing project challenges.
  • Advocates for innovation, technology adoption, and creative problem-solving.
  • Coordinates with project management teams to ensure alignment on staffing, scope, and schedule.
  • Reviews and authorizes work from the discipline team.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Leads implementation of company HSE standards within the team.
  • Champions safe and sustainable engineering practices across all stages of the asset lifecycle.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to personal well-being and encourages continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance.

Qualifications, Accreditation, Training (Required)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
  • Leadership and project execution training.
  • Professional engineering license as required by local regulations.

Qualifications, Accreditation, Training (Preferred)

  • Additional training in risk or quality management.

Job Specific Knowledge / Experience (Essential)

  • Has a strong background in discipline work, and a competent understanding of regulations, codes, manufacturing standards, and industry standard practices.
  • Skilled in estimating project costs and writing proposal content. Adept at budgeting and cost control.
  • Typically has 15+ years of relevant technical experience and 5+ years in project leadership.
