Job summary

Talent Seed is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Data to lead its data organization. This leader will be accountable for the databases and clusters that power the platform at scale, the reliability of the wider data platform, and the BI services that provide actionable insights to customers.

Based in Dubai or Riyadh, the role carries direct management responsibility for teams and requires operating at both strategic and deeply technical levels, with visibility to executive leadership.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in data or infrastructure engineering with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing teams responsible for databases, clusters, or large-scale data platforms.
• Deep hands-on expertise in database architecture and operations, with MySQL and/or ClickHouse strongly preferred, alongside cluster management and performance optimisation for high-throughput systems.
• Reliability: experience operating highly available data platforms with incident management and disaster recovery.
• BI & Analytics: experience delivering BI or analytics products to external customers with data modelling and reporting pipelines at scale.
• Leadership: proven ability to build, develop, and inspire high-performing engineering teams.
• Communication: exceptional ability to articulate technical strategy to engineering teams, executives, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own the strategy, architecture, and lifecycle management of the production database estate including MySQL and ClickHouse.
• Lead design, scaling, and operational excellence of database and analytics clusters.
• Define and uphold reliability standards across the data platform (SLOs/SLIs, monitoring, DR).
• Build and mentor managers and engineers; establish structure, career paths, and performance expectations.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, and Commercial leadership on data investments and roadmap.
• Own the data organisation budget across databases, clusters, infrastructure, and tooling.
