Job summary

Ziina is seeking a Head of Data to design and lead our data, ML, and AI strategy, building platforms that empower every team to leverage data-driven insights. You will own the vision, grow a small agile data team, and ship self-serve ML and experimentation tools.

This role blends hands-on work with strategic leadership in a fast-growing fintech environment. Fluent Python/SQL, deep governance, and the ability to translate technical work into business impact are essential, with UAE-based

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data/ML/AI engineering, incl. 3+ years leading teams shipping ML/AI to production.
• Experience building core ML platforms (feature stores, training pipelines, model registries, real-time serving, monitoring).
• Shipped LLM-powered products or internal tools to production, with evals, prompts, retrieval, and routing/cost optimization.
• Hands-on experience with agent frameworks and tool-use protocols such as MCP, and safe agent access.
• Understand experimentation deeply, incl. design, power, guardrail metrics, and AB test pitfalls.
• Still hands-on: writing Python and SQL, reviewing designs, and building alongside a small team.
• Translate technical work into business outcomes and influence leaders in non-technical teams.
• Based in, or open to relocating to, the UAE

Responsibilities

• Define and own the data, ML, and AI vision, strategy, and roadmap across the company
• Evolve data foundations to a trusted warehouse and semantic layer with quality checks and lineage
• Lead and mentor the Data team and scale hiring
• Build self-serve ML, LLM, agent, and experimentation platforms for safe, measurable use
• Partner with Product, Fincrime, CX, and Finance to find high-impact use cases and ship versions
• Establish AI governance and model risk management aligned with financial regulations
