A leading eCommerce platform is seeking a Head of Buying to develop and execute its buying strategy. The role involves product selection, supplier management, and team leadership to enhance revenue and profitability. Candidates should possess strong negotiation skills and extensive experience in merchandising.
Job Summary: The Head of Buying is responsible for developing and executing the overall buying strategy for the eCommerce platform. This role focuses on product selection, supplier relationships, pricing strategies, inventory management, and category growth to drive revenue and profitability. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Planning & Buying: • Develop and implement the buying strategy aligned with company goals. • Lead category planning, product assortment, and seasonal buying. • Forecast sales trends, consumer demand, and market opportunities. Supplier & Vendor Management: • Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers. • Negotiate pricing, terms, and exclusive deals to maximize margins. • Ensure timely procurement and delivery of merchandise. Category & Product Management: • Define product mix and oversee product lifecycle across categories. • Monitor product performance, introduce new lines, and discontinue underperforming items. • Work closely with merchandising and marketing teams to promote key products. Data-Driven Decision Making: • Use analytics and reporting tools to track sales, stock levels, and margins. • Identify buying patterns and optimize inventory turnover and ROI. • Set and monitor KPIs for product performance. Team Leadership: • Lead and mentor a team of category buyers and analysts. • Foster a high-performance, collaborative culture. • Drive training and development initiatives within the team. Cross-Functional Collaboration: • Work with supply chain, finance, and technology teams to streamline processes. • Collaborate with marketing on promotional campaigns and product launches.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management, Supply Chain, or related field. MBA is a plus. • 8+ years of buying or merchandising experience, preferably in eCommerce. • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills. • Deep understanding of consumer behavior in the GCC market. • Excellent analytical and forecasting abilities. • Proficient in MS Excel, ERP systems, and analytics tools. • Leadership experience with ability to manage a diverse team.
