Job Purpose:

Strategic Responsibilities:
- Set, implement, and continuously refine the long-term vision, mission, and strategic objectives of the AI lab at the innovation center, ensuring alignment with the center's overall goals.
- Establish the AI lab as a thought leader in healthcare AI by driving research excellence and innovation in areas such as predictive analytics, personalized medicine, and AI-assisted diagnostics.
Core Responsibilities:
- Oversee and guide the identification, development, and execution of high-impact internal projects with commercialization potential, ensuring alignment with market needs and organizational objectives.
- Evaluate research ideas and identify projects with strong technical and commercial feasibility, connecting researchers with engineers, product developers, and business strategists for successful execution.
- Lead the recruitment, development, and retention of a multidisciplinary team of AI researchers, software engineers, data scientists, and product managers to foster innovation and operational excellence.
- Build robust frameworks and workflows to convert research concepts into prototypes and deployable solutions at scale.
- Define clear performance metrics and monitor the progress of research projects, identifying challenges early and implementing course corrections to achieve goals.
- Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and experimentation within the AI lab, encouraging team members to push the boundaries of innovation while adhering to ethical AI practices.
- Provide thought leadership in publishing research papers, patents, and whitepapers to establish the lab's reputation in the global AI and healthcare research community.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory standards while designing and deploying AI solutions.
- Identify emerging trends in AI and healthcare to prioritize research areas that align with both short- and long-term organizational impact.
- Design programs and initiatives to attract high-potential startups, entrepreneurs, and innovators, creating a thriving ecosystem within the AI lab.
- Cultivate strategic relationships with academic institutions, technology leaders, healthcare providers, and government bodies to enhance the lab's research and development impact.
- Develop and execute a strategy to secure funding from public and private sector sources, including grants, venture capital, and industry partnerships.
- Build partnerships with global AI labs, innovation hubs, and think tanks to exchange knowledge and collaborate on cutting-edge projects.
- Spearhead initiatives to promote diversity and inclusion within AI research and ensure that AI solutions are ethical, unbiased, and accessible.
Developmental Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the reporting manager to define clear, measurable performance goals for the year and regularly review progress, updating priorities as needed.
- Demonstrate ownership of personal and professional development by proactively identifying learning opportunities such as certifications, conferences, workshops, and mentorships.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI, healthcare technologies, and research methodologies through continued education, peer collaboration, and professional networks.

Educational Requirements:
Minimum of a Master's degree, preferably a Ph.D., in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related field.
Overall Experience:
- A minimum of 10-year experience: mix of professional and academic
- At least 10 years of combined professional and academic experience in Artificial Intelligence, with a proven ability to bridge research and practical applications.
- A strong research portfolio showcasing expertise in applying Artificial Intelligence to medical applications, healthcare technology innovation, or related areas.
- Demonstrated success in securing and managing external research funding and establishing academic and industry collaborations.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively engage, inspire, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including students, colleagues, and external partners.
