Head of Art

Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals who are outstanding practitioners and are passionate and forward-thinking and who will thrive in a vibrant learning environment, helping us build a successful Art programme. The successful candidate will be required to show leadership in securing standards of excellence in teaching and learning and will have the necessary skills needed to devise a curriculum which will stimulate and motivate students to achieve. They will be expected to oversee and line manage the delivery of art throughout the school including the primary phase, where two art teachers are employed but should themselves be secondary practitioners with a track record of exam success. There is a very strong enrichment programme at the school and the successful candidate will be expected to make a contribution to this. The school is currently offering Edexcel GCSE and A-Level Art and A Level Photography with excellent facilities and resources in place to support this key department.

As a member of the Hartland team, you will share in the responsibility for teaching, learning, enrichment and pastoral care and will be someone who can thrive on the challenge of driving standards and ensuring that all students can succeed.

The successful candidate will:

• Hold a relevant degree and teaching qualification
• Have experience of teaching the National Curriculum for England or IB either in the UK or in an international setting, with exceptional evidence of examination outcomes for students at GCSE and A-Level/ or at IB Diploma level
• Have a minimum 5 years teaching experience
• Have exceptional communication skills
