Aldar Academies are seeking a Head - Mathematics for Bateen World Academy commencing start of the Academic year 2025-26.

Bateen World Academy is located in the center of Abu Dhabi and is a popular school within a vibrant community. It is a high-achieving British and IB World School (Years 7 to 13), consistently exceeding IB Diploma global averages and achieving outstanding I/GCSE results. The school has recently expanded into primary years, from FS1 to Year 6, including the Primary Years Programme (PYP), providing an all-through school experience from FS1 to Year 13 with options for PYP, UK, and IB Diploma.

Responsibilities
Strategic Direction and Department Development
  • Develop and implement policies reflecting the school's vision, aims, and commitment to high standards of achievement, teaching, and learning.
  • Establish, monitor, and evaluate short, medium, and long-term plans for department development.
  • Use data effectively to identify underachieving students and create support plans.
  • Analyze school data to inform policies and contribute to SEF writing.
  • Ensure schemes of work are developed, reviewed, and include provisions for SEN/POD, G&T, and EAL students.
Teaching and Learning
  • Ensure curriculum coverage, continuity, and progression for all students, including high achievers and those with special needs.
  • Establish policies for assessing, recording, and reporting student achievement.
  • Set expectations for staff regarding achievement, teaching quality, and behavior.
  • Evaluate teaching quality and implement improvements.
  • Contribute to the school's CAS Programme and after-school revision sessions.
Leading and Managing Staff
  • Manage staff performance according to school policy.
  • Establish clear expectations and foster collaboration and professionalism.
  • Hold regular department meetings focused on standards and improvement.
Managing Resources
  • Deploy staff and resources efficiently.
  • Manage the department's budgets.
  • Utilize facilities to create an effective learning environment.
  • Ensure health and safety policies are observed.
Other Duties
  • Lead/support extracurricular activities, including MUN.
  • Serve as an Academic Mentor and Extended Essay Supervisor.
  • Participate in staff duties, including invigilation and covering for colleagues.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent.
Experience
  • At least 6 years of teaching experience within the English National Curriculum.
  • Experience working with students for whom English is a second language.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Experience with EAL students.
  • Passion for teaching and holistic student development.
  • Professionalism and concern for student well-being.
  • Active involvement in extracurricular activities.
  • Respect and positive attitude towards all community members.
  • Solution-oriented mindset.
  • Clear enhanced DBS or police check.
