Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver outstanding Innovation and Design Technology lessons aligned with the school's teaching and learning policy.
• Create a positive climate for learning that supports challenge, creativity, engagement, and outstanding classroom practice.
• Identify clear teaching and learning objectives for lessons, projects, and practical activities.
• Set clear student targets based on prior attainment, assessment evidence, and curriculum expectations.
• Support SEN, POD, EAL, and gifted and talented students through effective differentiation and inclusive teaching strategies.
• Provide clear lesson structures and learning activities that maintain pace, challenge, and student engagement.
• Use assessment for learning to check understanding, guide instruction, and improve student outcomes.
• Use performance data and key indicators to inform planning and deliver differentiated learning.
• Integrate ICT effectively to enhance student learning, creativity, innovation, and progress.
• Maintain discipline in line with the school's Behaviour for Learning Policy.
• Encourage high standards of punctuality, behaviour, classwork, homework, and independent learning.
• Assess how well learning objectives have been achieved and use findings to improve teaching and learning.
• Mark student work at least once every two weeks and set progress targets in line with the school's marking policy.
• Assess and record student progress systematically using performance data to guide planning and support.
• Undertake student assessment as required by examination bodies, department procedures, and school policy.
• Prepare clear and informative reports for parents on student progress, achievement, and development.
• Attend and support parent events, student events, and school community activities.
• Contribute to subject development by producing, reviewing, and updating curriculum plans and schemes of work.
• Keep subject knowledge current through CPD, professional reading, and engagement with developments in design, technology, innovation, and education.
• Support curriculum improvement across IB, IGCSE, and related pathways.
• Contribute to the school's CAS Programme by leading or supporting one after-school activity each term.
• Serve as an Academic Mentor for Year 12 and Year 13 students.
• Act as an Extended Essay Supervisor for senior students when required.
• Undertake staff duty rota responsibilities in line with school expectations.
• Cover for absent colleagues when required.
• Invigilate examinations as needed to support the Examinations Officer and summer examination schedule.
• Carry out additional duties assigned by the Principal.

Ideal Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Design Technology, Innovation, Engineering, Technology Education, Product Design, or a related subject.
• PGCE or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Very good or outstanding teacher with proven classroom success.
• Experience teaching across the ability range with strong student outcomes.
• Experience working in more than one international school.
• Experience teaching IB and IGCSE is required.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum planning, assessment, differentiation, and instructional improvement.
• Knowledge of UAE Ministry of Education and ADEK regulations is required.
