Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality Design Technology and Engineering lessons that inspire students and support strong learning outcomes.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the curriculum and implement it effectively to match expected learning outcomes.
- Teach using appropriate syllabus content, materials, schemes of work, and practical learning resources.
- Develop students' engineering thinking, design skills, technical confidence, creativity, and problem‑solving ability.
- Organise classroom provision, learning resources, displays, and practical materials to create an engaging learning environment.
- Plan, prepare, and present lessons that meet the needs of students across the full ability range.
- Plan long‑term, medium‑term, and short‑term lesson sequences that support individual learning needs.
- Create a classroom climate that supports outstanding practice, active participation, and positive student engagement.
- Motivate students through enjoyable, creative, challenging, and practical lessons.
- Promote critical thinking, independent learning, collaboration, and technical curiosity.
- Identify clear teaching and learning objectives and monitor student achievement against them.
- Reflect on classroom provision, lessons delivered, student progress, and curriculum planning to improve learning outcomes.
- Adjust teaching strategies, resources, classroom environment, and planning based on student needs and assessment evidence.
- Support SEN, POD, EAL, and gifted and talented students through appropriate differentiation and inclusive teaching practices.
- Facilitate hybrid, distance learning, and face‑to‑face lessons when required.
- Follow school policies and procedures, including behaviour, code of conduct, safeguarding, and child protection policies.
- Manage classes effectively using approaches that inspire, motivate, and challenge students.
- Build positive relationships with pupils while exercising appropriate authority within school policies.
- Act decisively and professionally when required to support behaviour, safety, and learning.
- Demonstrate positive attitudes, values, and behaviour expected of students.
- Maintain high expectations for conduct, self‑control, independence, and responsibility.
- Ensure a safe and secure learning environment that supports social, emotional, and academic growth.
- Carry out assigned duties in line with school policies and operational expectations.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and school teams to support student progress and wellbeing.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Design Technology, Engineering, Technology Education, or a related subject.
- PGCE or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a similar teaching role.
- Mandatory experience working in an international school.
- Previous experience working with EAL students or students for whom English is not their first language.
- Strong understanding of curriculum planning, practical learning, assessment, differentiation, and classroom management.
- Ability to teach engineering‑focused design technology through creative, technical, and inquiry‑based learning.
- Approachable, professional, calm, knowledgeable, and confident when dealing with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Passion for teaching and a clear commitment to educating and nurturing children.
- High level of professionalism with strong consideration for student wellbeing and safeguarding.
- Recent and consistent involvement in extracurricular activities.
