Seer Baniyas Charter School, based in Mohammed Bin Zayed City, Abu Dhabi, offers an American-based curriculum for Grades 6 and 7, catering to 614 Emirati boys. Responsibilities
Main Duties:
- Encourage and promote inclusion across the school at all levels.
- Be an exemplary classroom teacher, supporting staff on SEN and inclusion to promote high standards of achievement.
- Liaise with colleagues from other schools, external agencies, and professionals.
- Line manage staff supporting children with special needs.
- Maintain accurate records, IEPs, and coordinate care plans.
- Review assessment data and conduct assessments to identify pupils needing targeted intervention.
- Plan and deliver programs to support individual needs.
- Provide training to colleagues and families.
- Induct and train the Inclusion team and assistants.
- Undertake co-teaching to support differentiated lessons.
- Contribute to the school pastoral committee.
- Participate in admissions, evaluations, assessments, and transitions.
- Support school aims, comply with health and safety, legislation, and policies.
- Set an example in dress, punctuality, and attendance.
- Undertake additional duties as required by the Principal/Head of Inclusion.
Specific Duties:
- Lead and manage the SEN team.
- Identify, develop, and deliver interventions based on needs.
- Provide individual or group instruction as appropriate.
- Deliver training for colleagues and families.
- Liaise with external specialists.
- Monitor work, check, and correct student work.
- Prepare documentation for submissions to ADEK and other bodies.
- Complete assessments and applications for access arrangements.
- Maintain SEN registers and data on progress and provisions.
- Participate in developing behaviour policies and managing student behaviour.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- A qualified teacher.
- SEN qualification (Master's level or external certification).
Minimum Experience
- At least 5 years in the SEN field.
- Experience leading SEN/learning support in a secondary school.
Job Specific Knowledge & Skills
- Experience implementing strategic initiatives with impact.
- Leadership in a special education or inclusion team.
- Maintaining SEN registers and developing IEPs and intervention plans.
- Ability to identify various needs and delays.
- Experience administering assessments.
- Delivering intervention programs and measuring their effectiveness.
- Using data to monitor progress and attainment.
