Minimum Qualifications
  • A qualified teacher
  • SEN Qualification (Master's level or external certification in SEN)
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the field of SEN
  • Previous experience leading SEN / Learning Support in a secondary school
Job Specific Knowledge & Skills
  • Evidence of implementing strategic initiatives and their impact within a school
  • Expertise in leading a special education or inclusion team
  • Experience maintaining accurate SEN registers and developing high-quality IEPs and intervention plans
  • Ability to identify various needs and developmental delays
  • Experience administering standardized assessments to inform provision
  • Delivering intervention programmes and measuring their effectiveness
  • Using data to monitor and track progress and attainment
Main Duties
  • Promote inclusion at all levels across the school
  • Support staff as an exemplary classroom teacher, guiding on SEN and inclusion
  • Collaborate with external agencies and professionals
  • Line manage staff supporting children with special needs
  • Maintain accurate records, IEPs, and care plans
  • Review assessment data to identify priority areas and pupils for intervention
  • Design and implement programmes to support individual needs
  • Provide training for colleagues and families
  • Induct and train the Inclusion team and assistants
  • Support co-teaching and differentiated lessons
  • Participate in school committees and transitions
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and school policies
  • Set an example in dress, punctuality, and attendance
  • Perform additional duties as required by leadership
Specific Duties
  • Lead and manage the SEN team
  • Develop and deliver interventions based on needs
  • Provide individual/group instruction
  • Conduct training for staff and families
  • Coordinate with external specialists
  • Monitor and correct student work
  • Prepare documentation for educational authorities
  • Manage assessments and access arrangements
  • Maintain SEN registers and data
  • Contribute to behaviour policies and promote self-esteem
