Minimum Qualifications
- A qualified teacher
- SEN Qualification (Master's level or external certification in SEN)
- Minimum of 5 years experience in the field of SEN
- Previous experience leading SEN / Learning Support in a secondary school
Job Specific Knowledge & Skills
- Evidence of implementing strategic initiatives and their impact within a school
- Expertise in leading a special education or inclusion team
- Experience maintaining accurate SEN registers and developing high-quality IEPs and intervention plans
- Ability to identify various needs and developmental delays
- Experience administering standardized assessments to inform provision
- Delivering intervention programmes and measuring their effectiveness
- Using data to monitor and track progress and attainment
Main Duties
- Promote inclusion at all levels across the school
- Support staff as an exemplary classroom teacher, guiding on SEN and inclusion
- Collaborate with external agencies and professionals
- Line manage staff supporting children with special needs
- Maintain accurate records, IEPs, and care plans
- Review assessment data to identify priority areas and pupils for intervention
- Design and implement programmes to support individual needs
- Provide training for colleagues and families
- Induct and train the Inclusion team and assistants
- Support co-teaching and differentiated lessons
- Participate in school committees and transitions
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and school policies
- Set an example in dress, punctuality, and attendance
- Perform additional duties as required by leadership
Specific Duties
- Lead and manage the SEN team
- Develop and deliver interventions based on needs
- Provide individual/group instruction
- Conduct training for staff and families
- Coordinate with external specialists
- Monitor and correct student work
- Prepare documentation for educational authorities
- Manage assessments and access arrangements
- Maintain SEN registers and data
- Contribute to behaviour policies and promote self-esteem
