OVERVIEW / BASIC FUNCTION :

The Mixologist will be responsible for curating, preparing, and serving bespoke cocktails and beverages while maintaining the highest standards of hospitality, cleanliness, and consistency. This role combines deep knowledge of mixology, professionalism, and a guest-centric attitude.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Design, develop, and update the cocktail menu with innovative and seasonal offerings in line with brand identity and guest preferences.
  • Prepare and serve cocktails, mocktails, and other beverages with precision, creativity, and attention to detail.
  • Engage with guests to recommend beverages based on their taste preferences, offering a personalized experience, including:

a) Liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages ordered

b) Particular characteristics / description of wines / champagnes ordered

c) Prices for specified bar selections

d) Designated glassware, ingredients, preparation method, and garnishes required

e) Group name, type of function, and expected attendance

f) Scheduled hours of service

g) Special requests / arrangements

h) Location of bar in function room

i) Order of service

j) V.I.P.'s

  • Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and service delivery of all drinks.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, tools, and equipment in accordance with hygiene and safety standards.
  • Monitor inventory and place orders to maintain par levels of liquor, garnishes, and bar supplies.
  • Train and mentor junior bartenders or bartenders in mixology techniques and service excellence.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, new ingredients, and mixology techniques to enhance the guest experience.
  • Comply with all health, safety, and licensing regulations.
  • Contribute to events and promotions, including themed nights, masterclasses, or cocktail competitions.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure that standards are maintained at a superior level daily.
  • Maintain knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, especially regarding service to minors, intoxicated persons, and drunk driving.
  • Maintain knowledge of equipment maintenance and use; operate equipment only as intended.
  • Complete opening and closing side duties.
  • Transport the bar unit with all supplies and equipment to the assigned area and set up according to standards.
  • All other duties as required.
  • QUALIFICATIONS :

    • Experience: Minimum of 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages. At least three years of experience as a Bartender.

    Education : High school diploma.

    General Skills : Attention to detail, speed, accuracy, organization, good judgment, teamwork, confidentiality, and guest service understanding. Experience in cocktail competitions or bar shows, familiarity with molecular mixology or sustainable bartending, and knowledge of wine and coffee are advantageous.

    Technical Skills : Ability to understand guest needs, use POS systems, stay organized, and work efficiently under time constraints. Physical strength to transport supplies and endure physical movements required.

    Language : Fluent in English; additional languages preferred.

    Physical Requirements : Ability to exert physical effort, reach, stand, communicate effectively, and endure physical movements.

    Licenses & Certifications : Alcohol awareness certification, liquor, wine, and food service training certifications.
