Job summary

Premier Marine seeks an experienced Captain/Barge Master to oversee safe vessel operation and cargo handling within port and harbor environments. The role emphasizes efficient navigation, berthing coordination, crew supervision, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include leading deck crews, coordinating tug operations, maintaining vessel readiness, and ensuring accurate cargo documentation while upholding safety and port authority regulations.

Qualifications

• Valid Master / Captain License applicable to vessel type and tonnage.
• Proven experience in ports, harbors, or terminal operations.
• Strong knowledge of vessel maneuvering, cargo handling, and stability in confined waters.
• Proficient in navigation and communication systems used in ports.
• Leadership, communication, and team coordination skills.
• Knowledge of maritime and port authority safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Navigate and operate barges and vessels within port, dock, and harbor areas.
• Coordinate berthing, unberthing, and tug operations as required.
• Monitor vessel systems to ensure readiness during port operations.
• Oversee loading, unloading, and securing of cargo at port facilities.
• Ensure proper weight distribution and stability during operations.
• Maintain accurate documentation for cargo movements and transfers.
• Enforce port safety procedures and conduct emergency drills.
• Lead and supervise deckhands, dock personnel, and onboard crew.
• Collaborate with port authorities, pilots, and tug operators for smooth operations.
• Oversee routine inspections and maintenance of vessels and barge equipment.
• Maintain logs of cargo operations, vessel movements, and safety incidents.
• Report operational issues to Port Operations Manager.
