Job description

Aspen, a dynamic entrepreneurial pharmaceutical company, is seeking an individual commercial lawyer to join our Aspen Legal team based in Dubai. As a European-qualified lawyer, you will be responsible for facilitating Aspen's commercial activities across Europe and the Middle East by providing legal, contracting, and commercial advice, including corporate, regulatory, compliance, litigation, and other legal requirements. You will work within the Group Legal structure, aligned with Aspen's legal protocols and strategies, under the strategic direction of the Group Executive: Legal.

The role includes, but is not limited to, the following key responsibilities:

  1. General Legal Affairs: Providing commercial legal advice, managing dispute resolution and litigation, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
  2. Commercial Agreements: Drafting and vetting complex agreements such as supply, distribution, manufacturing, and pharma-related contracts; managing agreement execution and filing.
  3. Legal Opinions and Solutions: Identifying risk profiles, providing legal opinions, advising on legislative amendments, and labor law requirements; liaising on IP matters.
  4. Litigation Management: Deciding on litigation strategies, managing processes, and analyzing case merits.
  5. Customer Service: Handling queries efficiently, maintaining professionalism, and improving service methods.
  6. Signed Agreement Repository: Ensuring safekeeping of all signed agreements in the ACL system.
  7. Legal Reporting: Preparing monthly legal and litigation reports for management and group.
  8. Legislative Compliance: Preparing compliance reports, monitoring legislative changes, and ensuring adherence to the compliance framework.
  9. Learning & Growth: Identifying development needs, coordinating training, and promoting best practices and expertise within the team.

Position Requirements:

Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Law, qualified as a Solicitor in a European country (preferably England & Wales or Ireland). A Master’s degree and ancillary qualifications are advantageous.

Experience: Over 10 years of legal experience in a corporate or commercial environment, preferably in the pharmaceutical sector. Strong negotiation, drafting, and commercial knowledge are essential. Fluency in English is required.

Technical Skills & Personal Attributes: Membership of a professional law body, excellent communication and drafting skills, ability to work effectively in teams, problem-solving skills, and high ethical standards. Additional attributes include results orientation, proactive attitude, adaptability, and strong organizational skills.
