Job summary

Emirates Electrical & Instrumentation Company LLC in the UAE seeks a skilled Grinder with 2–3 years’ experience in oil & gas, piping or MEP projects. You will perform grinding, cutting, beveling, and surface preparation of pipes, plates, and structural steel, using angle grinders and power tools safely.

Follow method statements, risk assessments, and permit-to-work requirements; maintain PPE and housekeeping; support welders and fabricators; ensure dimensions and bevel angles meet specs.

Qualifications

• Minimum secondary-school education or relevant trade certification.
• At least 2–3 years of experience as a Grinder in oil-and-gas, piping, structural, fabrication, or MEP projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform grinding, cutting, beveling, and surface preparation of pipes, plates, structural steel, ducts, and metal supports.
• Remove weld spatter, rust, paint, sharp edges, and surface defects.
• Prepare pipe and plate edges for welding and fabrication.
• Use angle grinders, cutting machines, wire brushes, and other power tools safely.
• Select the correct grinding disc or cutting wheel for each material and task.

Job Description

• Perform grinding, cutting, beveling, and surface preparation of pipes, plates, structural steel, ducts, and metal supports.
• Remove weld spatter, rust, paint, sharp edges, and surface defects.
• Prepare pipe and plate edges for welding and fabrication.
• Use angle grinders, cutting machines, wire brushes, and other power tools safely.
• Select the correct grinding disc or cutting wheel for each material and task.
• Support welders, pipe fitters, fabricators, duct fabricators, and MEP technicians.
• Carry out grinding work on carbon steel, stainless steel, galvanized steel, and other approved materials.
• Ensure the required dimensions, finish, and bevel angles are achieved.
• Inspect grinding machines, cables, guards, handles, and discs before use.
• Follow approved method statements, risk assessments, and permit-to-work requirements.
• Use appropriate PPE, including face shield, safety goggles, gloves, hearing protection, and respiratory protection when required.
• Install fire blankets and control sparks to protect nearby workers, equipment, cables, and combustible materials.
• Maintain good housekeeping and remove metal scraps and used discs from the work area.
• Report damaged equipment, unsafe conditions, and defective grinding wheels immediately.
• Follow all company, client, quality, and HSE requirements.

Additional Information

• Oil-and-gas or ADNOC project experience is preferred.
