Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) in Design Graduate, Middle East

Working in close collaboration with the Middle East HSE in Design Lead, you will play a proactive, visible and diligent role during all aspects of Engineering & Design work to ensure that our teams are meeting the intent of HSE in Design Best Practice Guidance, local work instructions, and legislative requirements. The HSE in Design Graduate is the safety conscious of the design and promotes Jacobs HSE in Design principles on projects.

In this role, you are expected to challenge the norm and encourage innovation across the design process to make our designs even safer through the lifecycle of the project seeking to eliminate and mitigate hazards which arise during construction, use, operation and maintenance, future renovation and eventual demolition of the facility, plant or infrastructure.

For you to provide the necessary HSE in Design advisory services, you will receive detailed and comprehensive training on Jacobs HSE in Design best practice, design management tools and HSE in Design templates. This will ensure the consistency and complete execution of HSE in Design on all Jacobs design projects.

Key responsibilities of the HSE in Design Graduate:

  • Assist in the preparation of the HSE in Design Execution Plan.
  • Communicate the HSE in Design Execution Plan to our design team.
  • Advise team on local H&S legislation, hazards and control measures with respect to design.
  • Assist in the facilitation of project HSEiD training and workshops (as required).
  • Proactively support and facilitate competency assessment of internal teams and subconsultants.
  • Assisting coordination between multi-disciplinary design teams:
    • Attend key design team meetings when appropriate.
    • Review minutes/action & decision lists arising from design meetings.
    • Review of project design documentation including drawings, reports and Design Risk Assessments.
    • Work with the Designers in ensuring HSE in Design is considered in evaluation of design options and to solve design risk problems.
  • Carry out intermittent and detailed reviews of the design risk registers (HERR) as appropriate project phases.
  • Escalate to the Project Manager any significant design risk impacts and or/where there is a risk to project delivery.
  • Share the successes and lessons learned within the HSE in Design community.
  • Explore and discover new avenues to enhance the continued growth of HSE in Design in the Middle East.
