We seek an experienced and self-driven professional from the financial services industry to join our team in Abu Dhabi. The selected candidate will lead and grow the GTB business of the Bank by developing and maintaining relationships with Non-Banks Financial Institutions and Corporates customers, growing the business in terms of asset size, taking P&L responsibility for the business and ensuring high credit quality of the portfolio in Middle East. Offer and sell to both institutional and corporate clients a wide range of transactional products and services to manage cash flows and short term financing more efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Branch Manager and the Head of GTB Continental Europe & Middle East in defining the business strategy business plan and budget.
  • Managing a portfolio of global clients developing client centric solutions to remove or reduce payment risk, facilitate working capital and provide cash management solutions.
  • Represent BBVA with Non-Banks Financial Institutions and corporate clients, assuming the banker role with subsidiaries not covered by global Bankers.
  • Identify and generate new business opportunities with existing clients and expand the geographic reach of the customer’s relationships in coordination with the global bankers.
  • Visit and call on existing and prospect clients proactively, accompanied by product specialists when required, offering transactional products and services.
  • Monitor and check, in coordination with global and local product specialists, how the transaction services and products set up for a specific customer works.
  • Draft pitches and review legal documentation of agreements in collaboration with Legal CIB Negotiate deals, renew credit lines and help the global bankers to renew financial programs.
  • Evaluate and assess current and potential returns and make pricing decisions in collaboration with the Pricing Specialist.
  • Manage account, notifying the overrun to the affected customers and offering them different facilities to regularize debit positions.
  • Supervise and support the Middle Office with incidences that may occur.
  • Liaise and work alongside with other CIB front units in order to increase cross-selling and CIB support units for the deal execution.
  • Register, modify and update customers’ business opportunities timely and accurately in the in-house client management tools and data sources for pipeline and profitability reporting.
  • Undertake an annual review of customer product and services’ price list in collaborating with the Middle Office.
  • Acts as first line of defense and understand the Bank’s risk appetite while balancing business goals and objectives.
  • Understand the creditworthiness of each client, register the proposal in the risk management tool and participate in different committees in order to defend credit proposals and get Risks’ approval.
  • Stay abreast of the specific regulatory and compliance framework that may be affected.
  • Understand and comply with all internal and external policies and procedures.

Qualification & Experience

  • A master degree in business, finance or related field.
  • At least 10 years solid experience in the banking industry mainly in Non-Banks Financial Institutions and corporate clients with strong background on trade finance and transactional banking products.
  • Good knowledge of products and trends in trade finance and transactional banking products and general corporate banking products and services.
  • Familiarity with general banking operations and related legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Previous exposure to preparation of credit proposals.
  • Strong connection in the local banking industry and leading Non-Banks Financial Institutions and Corporate clients in the Middle East.
  • Proven business origination and structuring capabilities, with insurance covered transaction structure is an advantage.
  • Highly results driven.
  • With trade finance experience in other Middle East countries is an advantage.
  • A team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills, good negotiation skills, ability to close deals and able to work under pressure.
  • Able to work in a matrix reporting structure, multi-functional and cross-cultural environment.
  • Excellent communications skills with fluency in English. Ability to speak Spanish as well as Arabic would be advantageous but not required.
  • Knowledge in ESG / green product structuring is a plus.
