Our client is an industry leader for providing digital platforms crafted for telecom operators, banks, financial services organizations, and other enterprises. They provide solutions for BSS, banking and fintech, AI-led marketing automation and messaging platforms, which have been recognized by leading research firms, including Gartner, Forrester, IDC, Frost & Sullivan, ISG, Juniper Research, Rocco Research, amongst others.

Role brief

They are seeking an experienced Head of Business Development to lead their efforts in driving growth and expanding their footprint in the Telecom BSS (Business Support Systems) space. As the Head of Business Development, you will be responsible for formulating and executing strategies that position the company as a leader in the Telecom BSS market, developing strategic partnerships, identifying new business opportunities, and managing high-value accounts.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

• Lead and define the business development strategy, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.

• Drive growth by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, including new markets, channels, and strategic partnerships.

• Provide leadership and direction to the business development team, fostering a culture of innovation and high performance.

• Collaborate with senior leadership to identify key areas of expansion and investment in the Telecom BSS sector.

• Monitor industry trends, market shifts, and competitive landscape to anticipate and capitalize on emerging opportunities.

Client Acquisition & Account Management:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including C-level executives, across telecom service providers and enterprise accounts.

• Oversee the management of key customer accounts, ensuring client satisfaction and identifying opportunities for upselling and cross-selling.

• Negotiate complex contracts and agreements, ensuring mutually beneficial terms for both the company and clients.

Team Management & Collaboration:

• Manage and mentor a high-performing team of business development professionals, ensuring alignment with company goals and achieving sales targets.

• Foster collaboration between business development, marketing, and product teams to create tailored solutions and marketing strategies for clients.

Market Intelligence & Thought Leadership:

• Act as a thought leader in the Telecom BSS space, representing the company at industry events,

conferences, and in the media.

• Build and nurture relationships with industry influencers, analysts, and potential partners to enhance the company’s visibility and reputation.

• Continuously analyse the telecom market to identify and pursue new trends, technological advancements, and business models.

Skills & Qualification:

• Experience: 18+ years in Business development, Sales and Account Management.

• Product/Domain experience: 5+ years of experience in Telecom OSS/BSS space.

• Leadership Skills: Proven track record of leading and managing high-performing business development

teams.

• Client Engagement: Experience in managing high-value accounts and building relationships with C-level

executives.

• Sales Expertise: Expertise in complex sales processes, strategic deal negotiations, and closing high-value contracts.

• Communication: Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.

• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to assess business opportunities, market trends, and competitive landscapes.

• Travel: Willingness to travel as required to engage with clients and attend industry events.

• Exposure to emerging technologies like AI , SaaS etc is a good to have.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

• Proactive and results-oriented with a focus on achieving and exceeding targets.

• Ability to navigate complex, global telecom markets and organizational structures.
