Job summary

Tanqeeb in Dubai seeks an experienced GIS Specialist (Expert) / Senior Urban Planner to lead GIS and spatial analysis for large-scale urban planning and master planning projects. Develop, manage and analyze geospatial databases and maps, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across architecture, engineering, and planning disciplines.

The role requires 7+ years of experience, a degree in Urban Planning, GIS, Geography, or Geomatics, and strong ArcGIS proficiency.

• Degree in Urban Planning, GIS, Geography, Geomatics, or related discipline.
• Strong ArcGIS proficiency and data management skills.
• Experience applying GIS to master planning and large-scale projects.
• UAE/GCC experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead GIS and spatial analysis activities supporting urban planning, master planning, and large-scale development projects.
• Develop, manage, and analyze geospatial databases, maps, spatial datasets, and planning information.
• Conduct advanced spatial analysis to support land-use planning, infrastructure planning, development assessments, and urban studies.
• Prepare high-quality GIS maps, thematic maps, analytical outputs, and visualizations for technical reports and presentations.
• Integrate GIS data with urban planning, architectural, infrastructure, and engineering requirements.
• Support the preparation of master plans, urban development strategies, land-use plans, and planning frameworks.
• Analyze demographic, land-use, transportation, environmental, infrastructure, and other spatial datasets to support planning and development strategies.
• Collaborate with architects, urban planners, engineers, landscape architects, and other multidisciplinary teams.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, and relevant authorities regarding GIS data, planning requirements, and project deliverables.
• Ensure the accuracy, quality, consistency, and integrity of spatial data and GIS deliverables.
• Establish and maintain GIS standards, workflows, databases, and best practices across projects.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior GIS and planning team members.
• Contribute to technical reports, presentations, studies, and planning documentation.

We are currently seeking an experienced GIS Specialist (Expert) / Senior Urban Planner to join their growing team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead GIS and spatial analysis activities supporting urban planning, master planning, and large-scale development projects.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience in GIS, urban planning, spatial planning, or a related field.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Urban Planning, GIS, Geography, Geomatics, or a related discipline.
• Strong professional experience combining GIS and urban planning, preferably within an architecture, engineering, planning, or multidisciplinary consultancy.
• Advanced proficiency in Arc GIS / Arc GIS Pro and relevant GIS platforms.
• Strong knowledge of spatial analysis, geospatial databases, mapping, data management, and GIS visualization.
• Proven experience applying GIS to urban planning, master planning, land-use planning, infrastructure, and large-scale development projects.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams and manage multiple deliverables.
• UAE/GCC experience is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of Auto CAD, Civil 3D, or other relevant design and planning software is an advantage.
