The Urban Planner will support planning studies, approvals, feasibility reviews, development applications, spatial analysis, and multidisciplinary project delivery across Dubai. The role connects planning policy, infrastructure needs, environmental considerations, urban design principles, and authority requirements to help clients make informed decisions. By preparing accurate planning documentation and coordinating with technical teams, the Urban Planner contributes to efficient approvals, sustainable development, and better long-term urban outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare planning assessments, due diligence reports, development applications, planning statements, and supporting documentation for infrastructure, transport, energy, and urban development projects.
- Review UAE statutory planning requirements, Dubai regulations, authority guidelines, planning policies, and local development controls to support project compliance.
- Conduct planning research, policy analysis, site assessments, feasibility studies, and approval pathway reviews for assigned projects.
- Analyze spatial data using GIS tools to support site planning, land use review, constraints mapping, and planning concept visualization.
- Work with urban designers, architects, civil engineers, environmental specialists, transport planners, and project managers to integrate planning inputs into project deliverables.
- Support clients, stakeholders, and approval authorities by communicating planning recommendations in a clear, professional, and evidence-based manner.
- Assist senior planners and project managers with schedules, budgets, resource planning, deliverable tracking, and coordination of planning tasks.
- Contribute to fee proposals, project bids, planning scopes, and technical inputs that show the value of planning services for prospective clients.
- Stay updated on Dubai and UAE planning policies, urban design approaches, sustainability requirements, infrastructure trends, and smart growth principles.
- Support stakeholder engagement activities, coordination meetings, workshops, and internal technical reviews.
- Prepare presentation materials, maps, diagrams, planning summaries, and technical notes for internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Review planning constraints, site opportunities, regulatory risks, and approval requirements to identify practical project strategies.
- Assist in aligning planning recommendations with transport, energy, infrastructure, environmental, and community development objectives.
- Mentor and support junior team members where required, helping maintain a collaborative and well‑organized planning team environment.
- Maintain accurate project files, planning data, correspondence, research records, and supporting documentation for quality control and future reference.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Town Planning, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline.
- 2-4 years of professional urban planning experience, ideally within a planning consultancy, development organization, infrastructure advisory team, or multidisciplinary design environment.
- Good understanding of planning assessments, development applications, statutory planning requirements, approval procedures, and local regulatory frameworks.
- Experience supporting transport, infrastructure, energy, development, public realm, or urban growth projects will be valuable.
- Working knowledge of GIS tools, spatial analysis, planning research, site assessment methods, and planning documentation.
- Ability to interpret planning policies, urban design principles, environmental considerations, and sustainability best practices.
- Strong written communication skills for reports, planning notes, proposals, presentations, and authority‑facing documents.
- Comfortable working with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced consultancy environment.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to manage project deadlines, technical inputs, and multiple planning tasks.
