The Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for delivering expert third-party technical control, design review, and geotechnical calculation verifications for major civil engineering, building, underground, and infrastructure projects across Dubai. The role ensures full compliance of soil investigations, deep foundation systems, shoring designs, slope stability, and underground structures (including tunnel/underground interaction studies) with Dubai Municipality regulations, RTA specifications, and international standards.
Acting as Apave UAE's geotechnical technical expert on high-stakes developments, the position ensures soil-structure interaction integrity, ground movement control, and safety of surrounding structures while driving technical excellence and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
Geotechnical Design Review & Advanced Modeling:
- Perform technical reviews and independent verifications of geotechnical design submittals, soil investigation reports, deep foundation designs (bored/driven piles, barrettes), excavation shoring, and soil improvement techniques.
- Conduct and validate 2D/3Dnumerical finite element analysis (FEA) modeling using PLAXIS 3D / PLAXIS2D (or equivalent software like GeoStudio, Rocscience) for complex soil-structure interaction problems.
- Review geotechnical calculation notes including pile load capacities, settlement predictions, lateral earth pressures, slope stability, and dewatering assessments.
- Evaluate underground works, tunnel interaction studies, shaft support systems, and ground settlement impact on adjacent infrastructure or existing metro lines.
Technical Control & Regulatory Approval
- Act as the registered Dubai Municipality (DM) Approved Geotechnical Engineer representative for technical compliance and third-party design verification.
- Review and validate geotechnical methodology statements, field testing protocols, and specialized geotechnical submittals.
- Issue formal technical review reports, risk assessments, non-conformity notices, and approval certificates in compliance with Apave procedures and local regulations.
On-Site Supervision & Monitoring Review
- Conduct critical geotechnical site visits to inspect deep foundation installation, shoring works, soil improvement, and anchoring systems.
- Review geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring data (inclinometers, piezometers, settlement markers) to ensure site stability and safety of surrounding assets.
Client Advisory & Technical Support
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to developers, main contractors, and consultants to resolve complex geotechnical challenges on site.
- Support the preparation of technical and commercial proposals for geotechnical control and site audit services.

- Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Soil Mechanics, or Geosciences.
- Minimum 6 to 8 years of experience in geotechnical engineering design, third-party design review, soil mechanics, and site investigation for major civil engineering and building projects.
Technical skills :
- Dubai Municipality (DM) Geotechnical Engineer Accreditation / Card is required.
- Hands-on experience with PLAXIS 3D (or PLAXIS2D / equivalent numerical modeling software like GeoStudio, Rocscience) is required.
- Expertise in Geotechnical Calculations (pile capacity, settlement analysis, shoring/earth retaining structures, slope stability, dewatering).
- Experience or strong exposure to Tunnel engineering, shaft design, or underground works interaction is a strong Advantage.
- Proficiency in design review methodologies for deep foundations, soil improvement (vibro-compaction, grouting), and excavation support systems.
