The Generator Operator will be responsible for maximizing plant equipment availability through effective preventive and reactive maintenance on a fast-moving production line. The role involves working in shifts, with a strong controls/electrical background and basic mechanical repair skills.
The ideal candidate should have experience in RCA problem solving.
What you’ll be doing:
- Operate and maintain diesel generators safely and efficiently.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on generators.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor technical issues.
- Conduct preventive maintenance of gas and diesel generators.
- Monitor fuel levels and ensure proper refueling.
- Maintain records of generator performance and maintenance activities.
- Conduct load tests and diagnostics.
- Respond promptly to emergency or unscheduled maintenance issues.
- Follow safety protocols and regulations.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Install or modify electrical systems as needed for new facilities and equipment.
- Maintain electrical and control panels, including cabling of industrial networks.
- Adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Conduct risk assessments for electrical/control projects.
- Maintain workplace cleanliness and safety standards.
- Record tasks in the SAP-PM system clearly and accurately.
- Perform planned preventive and predictive maintenance.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
What we’d love for you to have:
- Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, or Automation Engineering.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in power generation, troubleshooting, and maintenance, preferably in manufacturing or building materials industries.
- Experience as an 11kV Gas Generator Operator or technician.
- Knowledge of 11kV Gas power plants, substations, transformers, LV systems.
- Experience with gas generator operations, electrical controls, and alternators.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of industrial instrumentation and control systems.
- Experience with process water chillers, hydraulic, and pneumatic circuits.
- Desirable knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems and reading electrical drawings.
- Strong problem-solving skills for complex electrical/control issues.
- Flexibility to work shifts and independently while collaborating with a team.
- Desire for continuous improvement.
