Job summary

NorthBay Solutions in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Generative AI Engineer to join the Applied AI function for a UAE Government Department. You will build production-ready GenAI applications, work with LLMs, RAG, and Azure AI Foundry, and deliver end-to-end AI solutions across frontend, backend, and data systems.

The role requires 3–6 years of professional AI/engineering experience, strong Python skills, and hands-on work with modern JS frameworks and cloud deployment.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of professional experience in AI Engineering, Generative AI, Software Engineering, ML, Data Science, or related areas.
• Hands-on experience building GenAI/LLM-based applications and AI-powered products.
• Strong Python skills and experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks.
• Backend experience with FastAPI/Flask/Node.js and cloud deployment on Azure.
• Familiarity with RAG, embeddings, vector databases, prompt/context engineering, and LLM APIs.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy LLM-powered applications, AI assistants, copilots, and autonomous/agentic solutions.
• Design RAG-based systems, semantic search, embeddings, and vector databases.
• Develop full AI products spanning frontend, backend, APIs, databases, and orchestration.

Position: Generative AI Engineer | Full Stack + Azure AI Foundry

Abu Dhabi | 100% Onsite Position (no remote/hybrid option) | Full-Time | 3–6 Years

NorthBay Solutions , an AWS Partner, is looking for a Generative AI Engineer to join the Applied AI function of a UAE Government Department in Abu Dhabi.

This role is ideal for an engineer who doesn’t just experiment with AI models but can turn GenAI concepts into complete, production-ready applications.

You will work across LLMs, Agentic AI, RAG, Azure, backend development, APIs, databases, and modern frontend technologies to build practical AI solutions for real-world use cases.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Build and deploy LLM-powered applications, AI assistants, copilots, and autonomous/agentic solutions.


• Design RAG-based systems , semantic search, embeddings, vector search, and knowledge solutions.


• Develop complete AI products spanning frontend, backend, APIs, databases and AI orchestration.


• Connect AI models with enterprise platforms, internal systems, APIs, and data sources.


• Take AI solutions from prototype → testing → production deployment.


• Work with Microsoft Azure and cloud-native technologies to deploy scalable AI applications.


• Develop AI solutions with appropriate security, monitoring, evaluation, and reliability.


• Collaborate with product, business, and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into working AI solutions.

What We’re Looking For

• 3–6 years of professional experience in AI Engineering, Generative AI, Software Engineering, ML, Data Science, or a related area.


• Strong hands-on experience developing GenAI / LLM-based applications.


• Excellent Python skills.


• Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks such as React, Next.js, or Node.js.


• Backend development experience with FastAPI, Flask, Node.js , or similar technologies.


• Practical knowledge of RAG, AI agents, embeddings, vector databases, prompt engineering, context engineering and LLM APIs.


• Experience working with Microsoft Azure and deploying applications in a cloud environment.


• Good understanding of REST APIs, Git, Docker and CI/CD.


• Familiarity with AI-assisted development environments such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Codex or Windsurf.


• Strong software engineering fundamentals and the ability to build maintainable, production-quality applications.

Your Azure / AI Advantage

Hands-on exposure to Azure AI Foundry, Azure AI Search, Azure Machine Learning, LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, MLflow, Kubernetes , or LLM serving technologies will be highly valued.

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering , or a related discipline is required.

A strong portfolio of GenAI applications, GitHub projects, or deployed AI solutions will be a major advantage.

Abu Dhabi Onsite Requirement

This is a strictly 100% onsite position at the client’s Abu Dhabi office.

Applicants must:

• Already be based in Abu Dhabi , OR


• Be willing to independently relocate to Abu Dhabi from another UAE emirate.
