Job summary

Hyde Hotels is seeking an experienced HVAC technician to take ownership of maintenance during their shift, troubleshoot FCUs/AHUs, and ensure safe, comfortable operations with minimal guest disruption.

You will inspect and service HVAC systems, read drawings, and support basic BMS operations while maintaining high service standards in a luxury hotel environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of practical HVAC maintenance experience.
• Hotel engineering or complex commercial facility experience is preferred.
• Clear spoken and written English is mandatory.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
• Team player who can work independently with minimal supervision.
• Service-oriented, professional and respectful in guest-facing areas.
• Strong knowledge of FCUs, AHUs, FAHUs and chilled-water systems.
• Competent in fault finding, testing and controls including thermostats and actuators.
• Ability to read HVAC drawings and control diagrams.

Job Description

• Report to the Duty Engineer / Engineering Supervisor on shift activities, outstanding issues, work orders, equipment status and incidents.
• Take ownership of HVAC maintenance during the assigned shift, including troubleshooting, corrective repairs, inspections and preventive maintenance.
• Respond promptly to guest room, public area, back-of-house and engineering HVAC requests and restore systems to safe and comfortable operating conditions with minimum disruption to hotel operations.
• Carry out fault finding and troubleshooting of FCUs, AHUs, FAHUs, ventilation fans, exhaust fans, chilled-water systems, pumps, valves, strainers, filters, thermostats, actuators and associated HVAC equipment.
• Inspect and maintain FCU/AHU coils, filters, drain pans, condensate drain lines, fan motors, belts, bearings, valves and HVAC control components.
• Check and troubleshoot room temperature complaints, poor cooling, water leakage, abnormal noise, airflow issues, condensation and HVAC control problems.
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance, ensuring work orders and maintenance records are accurately updated.
• Read and interpret HVAC drawings, schematics, control drawings, equipment manuals and building services drawings.
• Support the operation and basic troubleshooting of BMS, thermostats, room temperature controls, actuators, PICVs and other HVAC control systems within the technician's competence.
• Perform basic general maintenance duties outside the HVAC specialty, including plumbing, electrical, pumps, sanitary fixtures, carpentry, painting, silicone/grouting and other minor building repairs.
• Attend emergency HVAC breakdowns, alarms and operational incidents during the shift; make the area safe, take immediate corrective action within competence and elevate specialist requirements without delay.
• Maintain good housekeeping, safe work practices, tools and work areas, especially when working in guest-facing or occupied rooms.
• Communicate professionally with guests and hotel colleagues, protect guest privacy and coordinate with other departments to minimise guest impact.
• Report recurring HVAC defects, abnormal equipment conditions, major failures and works requiring specialist contractor/vendor intervention.
• Attend departmental meetings, technical training, safety training and other sessions required by the Engineering Department.

Qualifications
