Job summary

DrExpat is assisting a well-established tertiary hospital in Al Ain in recruiting a Consultant General Ophthalmologist to diagnose, treat, and surgically manage a wide range of eye conditions. The role covers outpatient and inpatient care, with emphasis on high clinical standards and patient safety.

You will perform cataract and general ophthalmic surgeries, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, maintain documentation, and participate in governance and continuing medical education.

Qualifications

Role Overview

As a Consultant General Ophthalmologist, you will diagnose, treat, and surgically manage a wide range of ophthalmic conditions. You will provide both outpatient and inpatient ophthalmology services while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety, clinical excellence, and evidence-based care.

Requirements

• Licensed as a Consultant General Ophthalmologist.
• Valid DOH Consultant License or eligibility for DOH Consultant licensure.
• Experience in a tertiary care hospital setting (clinic-only experience will not be considered).
• Strong surgical case mix with extensive ophthalmic surgical experience.
• Excellent clinical decision-making and patient management skills.
• Strong communication and multidisciplinary teamwork abilities.
• Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development.
