Gate Barrier, access control and Sliding Door Technician ELV
Job Overview:
The Gate Barrier and Sliding Door Technician (ELV) is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of automated gate barriers and sliding door systems within the Electrical, Low Voltage (ELV) systems field. This position involves working with advanced automated systems that require technical knowledge of electronics, wiring, and control systems, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Setup:
- Install automated gate barriers, sliding doors, and associated control systems in residential, commercial, and industrial locations.
- Ensure all wiring, connections, and control systems are correctly set up and calibrated as per specifications.
- Set up electrical panels, sensors, and other components integral to automated door and gate systems.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on gate barriers and sliding door systems to ensure smooth operation.
- Troubleshoot issues related to electrical systems, sensors, motors, and remote controls, ensuring swift diagnosis and resolution.
- Replace worn-out components and conduct repairs as necessary to ensure optimal performance.
Repairs and Upgrades:
- Conduct on-site repairs for malfunctioning gate barriers and sliding doors, including motor repairs, electrical wiring, control panel issues, and sensor faults.
- Upgrade systems by replacing outdated components with modern technologies, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs, and installations.
- Update clients on the status of installations, service calls, and any recommendations for improvements or upgrades.
- Prepare reports related to service activities, system diagnostics, and work completion for review by management.
- Collaborate with other ELV technicians, engineers, and contractors to ensure cohesive system design and installation.
- Provide on-the-job training to junior technicians, ensuring they follow best practices and procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Education: Diploma or certification in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related fields. Additional certifications or training in ELV systems, gate barriers, or automated doors are a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with gate barriers, sliding doors, or related automation systems.
- Hands-on experience with electrical wiring, motor control systems, sensors, and troubleshooting.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of automated gate barriers and sliding doors.
- Strong understanding of low voltage electrical systems, wiring, and control mechanisms.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment for system troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with control panels, circuit boards, remote control systems, and safety sensors.
