Job summary

Sarwa seeks an engineering intern to enhance internal tooling, improve the design system, and expand test coverage. You will work on real internal products that accelerate the frontend team, from pipelines to design-system integration, gaining hands-on experience in a fast-growing fintech environment.

You’ll be mentored by frontend engineers, collaborating with designers, engineers, and product managers. A remote-first team with optional Abu Dhabi office support offers flexibility and practical

Qualifications

• Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Foundational experience with React and TypeScript from projects, coursework, or internships.
• Understanding of modern frontend fundamentals: component architecture, state management, responsive design.

Responsibilities

• Improve internal tooling: enhance build pipelines and visualize engineering metrics.
• Expand technical documentation across frontend patterns and practices.
• Connect Figma Code Connect to the new component library and codebase.
• Write integration tests for existing screens to boost release confidence using Maestro.
• Contribute to the design system and component library for consistency across Sarwa products.
• Collaborate with designers and backend engineers to deliver polished UI improvements.
• Participate in code reviews, sprints, and team discussions.

We do this through expert, affordable and easy investing. We're a small team working on the region's first and fastest growing investment and personal finance platform, making investing easy, low-cost and transparent, with a human touch woven into every step of the process.

We are a remote-first team. Where you choose to work is up to you - we have an office in Abu Dhabi that you can utilize as often or little as you'd like.

Our frontend team is looking for an engineering intern to help improve Sarwa's internal tooling, design system, and test coverage. This is a hands-on internship where you'll work on real internal products that make the engineering team faster and more effective - from improving build pipelines and visualizing metrics, to connecting our Figma design system to code and writing integration tests with Maestro. You'll be mentored by our frontend engineers and gain practical experience building tools and components used daily across the team.

This Might Be a Right Fit If You

• Are currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Have foundational experience with React and TypeScript (personal projects, coursework, or prior internships count)
• Understand modern frontend fundamentals: component architecture, state management, and responsive design
• Have empathy for developers and internal users - you think about the people who will use what you build
• Are self-directed and comfortable taking ownership of a task from start to finish
• Have a strong attention to detail, especially when it comes to UI consistency and code quality
• Are curious about design systems, developer experience, and testing best practices
• Communicate clearly and enjoy collaborating with designers, engineers, and product managers

Some Of What You’ll Do

• Improve internal tooling: enhance build pipelines and help visualize engineering metrics
• Expand technical documentation by covering patterns and best practices used across the frontend codebase
• Help build and connect our Figma Code Connect integration for the new component library
• Write integration tests for existing screens using Maestro, improving confidence in releases
• Contribute to the design system and component library to ensure consistency across Sarwa’s products
• Collaborate with designers and backend engineers to deliver polished, user-facing improvements
• Participate in code reviews, sprint ceremonies, and team discussions
