Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Check the reservation system and in-house guest information for the next meal period.
- Notify the supervisor of any large group bookings or reservations with special requests, VIPs, etc.
- Distribute reservations among all servers equally, informing them of all necessary information such as birthdays, anniversaries, sample invoice formats. Bill not to be taken to the table or for any unusual requests.
- Allocate reservations as per the floor plan.
- Answer the phone politely, using a friendly tone and being informative. The telephone must be answered within three rings.
- Accurately answer customer questions by knowing your product and offerings, including menus, ingredients, preparation, prices, promotions, and events.
- Understand server and runner tasks and provide assistance as required.
- Hostess should have general knowledge about the city, reservation details, and hotel policies and procedures.
- Refrain from personal phone calls during work, and do not share personal information over the phone with anyone except staff.
- Take messages on the designated message pad.
- Remember, the hostess is a key part of the restaurant experience, being the first and last person the customer interacts with.
- Ensure someone is always at the host station.
- Walk at a pace comfortable for guests, never more than three steps ahead or walking too fast.
- Assist guests at the table, starting with women, and thank departing guests, asking about their evening.
- Immediately escalate any complaints to a manager or supervisor.
- Perform opening, cleaning, and closing duties, including outlet cashiering duties.
- Adhere to hygiene and HACCP standards and SOPs.
Minimum Requirements
- Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
- Previous customer service experience required.
- Experience in Food & Beverage is an asset.
- Pro Serve certification required.
- Experience with Open Table is an asset.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Highly responsible and reliable.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Focus on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous.
- Ability to work cohesively as part of a team with minimal supervision.
