JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum of 1-year experience in the same role
  2. High School Degree or equivalent
  3. Strong communication and organisational skills
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills in order to deal effectively with all business contacts, maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance
  5. Keen attention to detail
  6. MS Office and computer literacy

FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of everything that needs to be done. MELIA DESERT PALM DUBAI employees always find new ways to look after the business, their guests, and their colleagues. Within this, the key responsibilities for this position are:

Administrative Responsibility:

  1. Manage the department time and attendance system
  2. Ensure the smooth operation of the Food & Beverage Administration office
  3. Handle all incoming and outgoing food and beverage correspondence including guest's feedback promptly and accurately
  4. Ensure a proper filing system is maintained for all Food and Beverage records and financial reports
  5. Answer all enquiries within 24 hours of receipt
  6. Maintain complete trace of each event
  7. Consolidate all information required for event guests in terms of accommodation, F&B and set up
  8. Provide event package to clients according to their specific requirements
  9. Issue function sheets to all departments for the actions required and maintain an update if required
  10. Carry out administrative tasks required by events, e.g. Printing of menus, signage and notes

Operational Responsibility:

  1. Adheres to the Food & Beverage policies and procedures
  2. Assist clients with their set up requirements and outsource the best suitable supplier if required
  3. Work closely with other departments according to client requirements to ensure guest requirements are met in terms of set up, accommodation and F&B
  4. Offer professional advice to clients to ensure smooth operation during the event
  5. Provide friendly and personalized service with attention to details
  6. Work closely with Food & Beverage, Sales & Marketing, Reservations and other Department to ensure guests’ requirements are met.
  7. Be the point of contact prior to, during and after the event
  8. Assist in all Food & Beverage operation if required

Human Resources Responsibility:

  1. Remains in a positive relationship with colleagues in a professional manner
  2. Is honest and sincere in dealings with customers and colleagues
  3. Treats all colleagues and customers with respect and does not discriminate against others
  4. Determine and communicate with each department for extra work force required for events

Financial Responsibility:

  1. Utilize up-selling and suggestive selling techniques to enhance the event financial performance
  2. Follow up on pre-payments and billing of events
  3. Work closely with all concerned departments to ensure correct rate is given to clients
  4. Give Finance and Food & Beverage operations department correct billing instructions specific to the event

General:

  1. Carry out any other task as defined by the Food & Beverage Manager
  2. Ensure grooming standards are being adhered
  3. Always displays proper and professional body language
  4. Attend trainings as scheduled

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. To attend all departmental meetings, briefings & internal or external training sessions as required.
  2. Establishes and maintains an inclusive environment by ensuring effective two ways communication processes are set up.
  3. To act wholeheartedly in the interests of the Company at all times & not to perform, arrange or carry out any work or activity which could be considered to be in competition with or affect in any way the company interests or be detrimental or damaging to its public image.
  4. To ensure maximum efficiency, employees are engaged on the basis that they must be prepared to undertake reasonable duties other than those for which they have been specifically engaged.
  5. Be environmentally friendly, reduce waste, recycle when possible, and reuse whenever applicable.
  6. All employees are expected to co-operate with the management, to ensure the successful application of the Company’s Equal Opportunities & Harassment policies.
  7. To carry out any reasonable & lawful direct instruction given by the General Manager during working hours.
