Job summary

Parsons in Abu Dhabi, UAE is seeking an FLS and MEP Expert to provide technical leadership for Fire and Life Safety and MEP systems across metro, high-speed rail, LRT, and mainline railway projects. The role covers stations, depots, tunnels, and related rail infrastructure, with emphasis on design assurance and system integration.

You will review complex designs, liaise with clients and authorities, and ensure compliance with NFPA, IEC, Civil Defense, and railway standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Protection, Building Services or related field.
• Minimum 15 years of FLS and/or MEP engineering experience.
• At least 10 years on Metro, High-Speed Rail, LRT, or Mainline Railway projects.
• Strong knowledge of fire detection and suppression systems.
• Experience with smoke control and tunnel ventilation.
• Experience with HVAC and building services systems.
• Knowledge of electrical distribution and UPS systems.
• Experience with SCADA, BMS, and railway system interfaces.
• Experience coordinating with clients, operators, contractors, consultants, and regulators.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership Responsibilities

• Act as the Subject Matter Expert for Fire and Life Safety and MEP systems on major railway projects.
• Review and approve engineering designs, specifications, calculations, and technical submissions.
• Lead technical reviews covering fire protection, smoke management, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building services systems.
• Verify compliance with applicable NFPA, IEC, local authority, Civil Defense, and railway standards.
• Participate in safety, hazard, interface, and design assurance reviews.
• Identify technical risks, design issues, and non-conformances and support appropriate mitigation and resolution.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to multidisciplinary project teams.

Rail Systems Integration

• Coordinate FLS and MEP interfaces with signaling, communications, SCADA, traction power, AFC, and other railway systems.
• Review integration requirements across stations, depots, tunnels, operational facilities, and wider rail infrastructure.
• Support resolution of multidisciplinary interfaces that affect safety, functionality, maintainability, or operational requirements.
• Coordinate technical matters with clients, operators, contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities.

Testing, Commissioning and Operational Readiness

The FLS and MEP Expert will provide specialist input during testing and commissioning, integrated systems testing, and operational readiness activities. The role requires an integrated understanding of building services and railway systems to support verification that interconnected systems perform in accordance with project, safety, and regulatory requirements.
