Context

The EMC Expert – Rail Systems will support Parsons in delivering a high‑performance railway program by providing technical direction across design, analysis, integration, testing, commissioning and compliance stages. The role focuses on ensuring that EMC, stray current, earthing and bonding and noise and vibration requirements are properly planned, coordinated, verified and integrated with signalling, telecom, power, rolling stock, SCADA, AFC, airport interfaces and other critical rail systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert technical direction on electromagnetic compatibility, stray current management, earthing and bonding and noise and vibration requirements across all project phases.
  • Develop and implement EMC management plans, stray current control strategies, earthing and bonding schemes and technical compliance frameworks.
  • Lead technical reviews, engineering audits, design assessments and quality checks to ensure alignment with contractual requirements and international standards.
  • Identify risks related to EMC interference, stray current, system compatibility, vibration impacts and operational performance, then define practical mitigation measures.
  • Review and approve technical specifications, design drawings, calculations, modelling outputs, engineering reports and contractor documentation.
  • Apply advanced modelling and simulation tools to predict and analyze EMC behaviour, stray current performance, noise and vibration impact and system interaction.
  • Coordinate EMC, stray current, earthing and bonding and noise and vibration requirements across rail infrastructure and systemwide disciplines.
  • Manage technical interfaces with signalling systems, ATC, CBTC, telecom, power supply, rolling stock, SCADA, AFC, depot systems and operational control systems.
  • Support integration with airport systems, passenger flow requirements and baggage handling systems where applicable.

  • Proven experience on large‑scale metro, subway, express railway or major rail infrastructure programmes.
  • Strong technical background in managing complex infrastructure engineering scopes across design, integration, testing and commissioning.
  • Strong knowledge of EMC standards and regulations, including IEC, EN and IEEE standards.
  • Experience using advanced modelling and simulation tools for EMC, stray current, noise and vibration and system performance analysis.
  • Strong understanding of rail systems integration, including signalling, telecom, power, rolling stock, SCADA, AFC and operational interfaces.
  • Experience with airport integration, passenger flow interfaces and baggage handling systems coordination will be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with rolling stock requirements for express services and related infrastructure interfaces.
