Job summary

VR-People Sàrl is seeking a senior fleet finance professional in Dubai to lead financial management, reporting and control for a growing dry bulk fleet. You will report to the Group CFO and work closely with the CEO of the Fleet Division.

You will build and mentor a small fleet finance team, manage vessel budgets and P&L, oversee external managers, and help establish robust financial controls to support fleet expansion. Candidates based in the UAE are preferred.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with ACA/ACCA/CPA/CIMA or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control costs incurred by external vessel and crew managers.
• Oversee procurement, bunker accounting and supplier cost controls.
• Ensure accurate vessel-company accounting, reconciliations and Group reporting.
• Support vessel acquisitions, disposals, asset accounting and ship financing.
• Establish robust financial procedures, controls and reporting systems to support fleet expansion.

Job description

Our client currently operates 6 large dry bulk vessels and plans to significantly expand its fleet.

Reporting to the Group CFO, with a close working relationship with the CEO of the Fleet Division, you will take responsibility for the financial management, reporting and control of the fleet.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a small fleet finance team.
• Manage vessel budgets, operating costs, forecasts and monthly vessel P&L reporting.
• Monitor and control costs incurred by external vessel and crew managers.
• Oversee procurement, bunker accounting and supplier cost controls.
• Ensure accurate vessel-company accounting, reconciliations and Group reporting.
• Support vessel acquisitions, disposals, asset accounting and ship financing.
• Establish robust financial procedures, controls and reporting systems to support fleet expansion.

Your profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Significant finance experience within a shipowner or ship-management organisation.
• Strong understanding of vessel operating costs, vessel budgets, owner’s accounts and fleet financial reporting.
• Experience monitoring external ship managers and controlling procurement expenditure.
• Good knowledge of shipping accounting, financial reporting and ideally ship finance.
• Strong Excel and financial modelling skills.
• Experience managing a small team.
• Fluent English.

Dubai, UAE. Candidates already based in the UAE are preferred.
