Job description

The Fishing Engineer II is a technical role responsible for planning, executing, and supervising advanced oilfield operations, with a specialization in fishing and downhole tool services. This role demands extensive experience in open-hole and cased-hole fishing, Plug and Abandonment (P&A) projects, and Whipstock / Sidetrack operations including section milling.

Acting as the primary liaison with the client at the wellsite, the Field Engineer II ensures the safe and efficient delivery of high-quality services. The role also involves mentoring junior engineers, troubleshooting complex issues, and driving continuous improvement in field execution and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities :

• Lead the planning, execution, and supervision of complex field operations related to fishing and downhole interventions, including whipstocks, sidetracking, and section milling.
• Maintain a high standard of safety, compliance, and operational integrity in accordance with Weatherford policies and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in safety meetings, JHAs, toolbox talks, and contribute to the development of a strong safety culture.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot downhole and fishing tools; ensure equipment is functioning properly and safely before and after operations.
• Collaborate with the R&M team for equipment repairs and participate in Root Cause Analysis for any failures.
• Ensure proper documentation of job-related data, including field reports, observation cards, service logs, and failure reports.
• Serve as the key technical contact for the client on-site; communicate job progress, technical updates, and resolution plans effectively.
• Monitor field data and make informed decisions to improve service efficiency and client outcomes.
• Supervise and mentor junior field personnel, providing guidance and performance feedback.
• Conduct engineering checks and support software updates or calculations as needed on location.
• Maintain effective inventory management and readiness of tools and supplies required for operations.
• Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives across field operations.
• Contribute to team development and training efforts; promote knowledge sharing and capability building.

• Strong technical knowledge in fishing, P&A operations, section milling, and whipstock / sidetrack services
• Proficient in wellsite data interpretation, troubleshooting, and job planning
• Skilled in using job-specific software, performing basic engineering calculations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client-facing interactions
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and team coordination capabilities
• High level of situational awareness and problem-solving under pressure

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• 5-10 years of oilfield operations experience
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on field experience in fishing and downhole tools
• Proven experience with open-hole and cased-hole fishing, Plug and Abandonment, section milling, and Whipstocks / Sidetracks
• Prior experience managing or mentoring field crews and acting as the primary client contact on-site
• Willingness to work on a 24 / 7 on-call basis and in remote field environments
