Job summary

Responsibilities include reviewing designs, performing hydraulic calculations, supervising on-site work, coordinating with MEP teams, and delivering handover packages for Operations/FM.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical/fire protection engineering.
• 2–4 years in fire-fighting design/execution, UAE/GCC preferred.
• NFPA knowledge and civil defence coordination experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and review fire-fighting systems (sprinklers, hydrants, pumps).
• Perform hydraulic calculations to NFPA 13/14/20 compliance.
• Review shop drawings, submittals and specs for conformance.
• Supervise on-site installation of pumps, piping and sprinklers.

JOB DESCRIPTION - Fire Fighting Engineer

We are seeking a talented Fire Fighting Engineer to join one of our Clients in UAE.

The ideal candidate will lead the design, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of fire-fighting and fire-protection systems, ensuring full compliance with NFPA, Civil Defense, and local authority codes across assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Engineering Review and approve fire-fighting system designs (sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels, fire pumps, foam/gas suppression systems)
• Design & Engineering Perform hydraulic calculations and ensure system design meets NFPA 13/14/20 and local Civil Defence requirements
• Design & Engineering Review shop drawings, material submittals, and technical specifications for compliance
• Installation & Execution Supervise on-site installation of fire pumps, piping networks, sprinkler heads, hydrants, and detection interfaces
• Installation & Execution Coordinate fire-fighting works with other MEP disciplines (electrical, HVAC, BMS/SCADA) to manage interfaces
• Installation & Execution Monitor progress against schedule and resolve site execution issues
• Testing & Commissioning Plan and lead flushing, hydrostatic/pressure testing, and functional testing of fire pumps and systems
• Testing & Commissioning Coordinate integrated testing with fire alarm, life-safety, and BMS systems
• Testing & Commissioning Prepare commissioning reports and ensure readiness for Civil Defence inspection and approval
• Compliance & QHSE Ensure all works comply with NFPA, local Civil Defence codes, and project specifications
• Compliance & QHSE Liaise with Civil Defence/authorities for approvals, inspections, and NOC issuance
• Compliance & QHSE Enforce QHSE standards during installation and testing activities
• Documentation & Handover Maintain as-built drawings, test certificates, and O&M manuals
• Documentation & Handover Prepare fire-fighting system handover packages to Operations/FM
• Documentation & Handover Train FM/operations staff on system operation and maintenance
• Team & Stakeholder Management Supervise fire-fighting technicians/foremen and subcontractors
• Team & Stakeholder Management Liaise with client representatives, consultants, and authority engineers
• Team & Stakeholder Management Support cost estimation, material take-offs, and variation assessments related to fire-fighting scope

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Fire Protection Engineering (or equivalent)
• 2-4 years of Experience in fire-fighting systems design/execution, preferably in UAE/GCC
• NFPA certification (CFPS or similar) preferred
• Strong knowledge of Dubai/Abu Dhabi Civil Defence approval procedures
• Experience with fire pump testing, hydraulic calculations, and BMS/fire-alarm interface coordination
