Job summary

ARX is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer for our Dubai site to lead fire protection design reviews for airports, aviation facilities, and large infrastructure projects. The role focuses on hangar foam suppression, deluge systems, and external fire networks, with strong emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate will have 7–12 years of relevant experience, including Gulf region exposure, and be proficient in NFPA codes, Dubai Civil Defence submissions, and

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related discipline.
• 7–12 years of relevant experience, with 4+ years reviewing fire protection submittals in Gulf.
• Airport or aviation facilities experience is preferred, including hangars/ MRO facilities.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA codes and UAE/Gulf requirements.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and coordinate fire protection deliverables and systems.
• Review aircraft hangar and aviation facility fire protection systems, including foam suppression and deluge.
• Coordinate with architecture, structure, mechanical, electrical and other teams for submissions.
• Prepare or review inputs for Dubai Civil Defence and other authorities.
• Ensure compliance with local standards and ARX procedures.

For our site office in Dubai, we are looking for

Fire Protection Engineer- 100% (m/f)

The Ideal Candidate will have a strong fire protection engineering background on airports, aviation facilities, industrial buildings or large infrastructure developments. They will be confident reviewing aircraft hangar fire suppression, foam systems, external fire networks, authority submissions and multidisciplinary design interfaces, while maintaining strong technical quality and safety awareness.

Responsibilities:

• Review and coordinate fire protection deliverables, including sprinkler, standpipe, deluge, foam suppression, fire pump, fire water storage and external fire network systems.


• Review aircraft hangar and aviation facility fire protection systems, including foam suppression, deluge, monitor systems, foam concentrate storage, proportioning, and foam discharge drainage and containment.


• Assess fire protection requirements for fuel, flammable liquid and hazardous material areas, including containment, bunding and spill retention interfaces with the fire suppression design.


• Coordinate external fire hydrant ring mains, fire water tanks, fire pumps, fire water supply, civil utilities and wider site infrastructure interfaces.


• Review hydraulic calculations, design reports, specifications, drawings, schematics, equipment schedules, material submittals, method statements, BOQs, technical queries and design response documentation.


• Prepare or review technical inputs and close-out responses for Dubai Civil Defence and other authority and stakeholder submissions.


• Coordinate fire protection requirements with architecture, structure, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, fire alarm, controls, civil, utilities, BIM/CAD, construction and commissioning teams.


• Support design workshops, technical meetings, quality reviews, constructability assessments, testing and commissioning planning, and close-out of interdisciplinary comments.


• Ensure fire protection systems are designed and reviewed in line with applicable standards, local authority requirements, safety principles, maintainability expectations and ARX quality procedures.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; NICET or equivalent fire protection certification is an advantage.


• Minimum 7 to 12 years of relevant experience, with at least 4 years reviewing fire protection submittals in the Gulf.


• Airport or aviation facilities experience is required, preferably including hangars, MRO facilities, foam suppression, fuel areas or large operational facilities.


• Strong knowledge of aircraft hangar foam suppression, NFPA 409 hangar classification, low-expansion and high-expansion foam, AFFF or fluorine-free foam transition, deluge systems, monitors, storage, proportioning, drainage and containment.


• Experience with sprinkler and standpipe systems, fire pumps, fire water tanks, hydrant ring mains and external fire water supply interfaces.


• Good understanding of fire protection for fuel and flammable liquid areas, including containment, bunding and spill retention requirements.


• Experience supporting Dubai Civil Defence or equivalent authority submission and approval cycles for fire protection systems.


• Good knowledge of NFPA 13/14/15/16/20/24/30/409, Dubai Civil Defence code and relevant UAE/Gulf requirements.


• Ability to review drawings, hydraulic calculations, technical specifications, material submittals, method statements, BOQs, design reports and commissioning documentation.


• Middle East experience is preferred, with UAE authority coordination exposure considered an advantage.


• Strong communication, coordination, technical documentation, problem-solving and professional English language skills.
