Position Overview ADNOC Group is seeking an experienced Financial Planning Manager in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates to support financial planning, budgeting, accounting consolidation and management reporting across Upstream operations. The role evaluates the financial performance of Upstream Group Companies, ADNOC Drilling and other service companies while coordinating annual budgets, five-year business plans, variance analysis and financial reporting. Job Purpose
The Financial Planning Manager will drive the development, alignment, implementation and monitoring of financial planning, budgeting, accounting and consolidated management reporting activities for Upstream. The role evaluates financial performance across Upstream OPCOs, ADNOC Drilling and other service companies and reviews budgets and five-year financial plans for alignment with Upstream mandates, objectives and financial interests. It also assesses financial policies, systems, procedures and agreements for compatibility with applicable agreements and generally accepted accounting principles.
Financial Planning and Budgeting
- Contribute to implementation of new and standardized financial planning, budgeting and reporting policies, processes, accounting procedures and systems at BLD and Group Company level.
- Ensure financial processes are implemented in accordance with Group F&I standards.
- Develop, align, implement and monitor consolidated BLD financial plans and budgets in coordination with the BLD Planning and Performance Team and under guidance from the Group F&I Directorate.
- Develop the consolidated BLD business plan, including the five-year business plan.
- Coordinate with and support the BLD Planning and Performance Team throughout business planning activities.
- Assess Group Company budget and financial plan submissions and provide appropriate feedback.
- Evaluate financial aspects of budgets and longer-term financial plans against Upstream objectives and requirements.
Financial Analysis and Reporting
- Advise management on the robustness of Group Company financial plans, budgets and management information reports.
- Assist Group Companies with preparation and review of business plans and underlying assumptions covering financial, production, human capital, HSE and other activities.
- Perform relevant variance analyses to identify significant changes in financial and operational performance.
- Support preparation of BPC reports, including consolidated budget versus actual reports, budget utilization reports and other financial planning reports.
- Prepare business, budget and variance analyses required to evaluate and measure BLD financial performance.
- Develop complex ad-hoc financial models and reports in response to management requirements.
- Participate in preparing financial planning and budgeting reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Capital Planning and Financial Controls
- Support Group Company capital project planning activities and the process for obtaining required project approvals.
- Review financial policies, systems and procedures for alignment with approved financial agreements and accounting principles.
- Provide expert support for internal and external audit activities relating to the BLD.
- Coordinate with Group F&I Internal Controls on relevant audit and control matters.
- Support implementation of internal control policies and frameworks at Group Company level.
- Help maintain compliance with Group F&I standards and applicable laws and regulations.
- Provide financial planning, budgeting and reporting advice to Group Companies within the assigned BLD.
Supervision
- Plan, supervise and coordinate activities within the assigned area to achieve functional objectives.
- Train and develop assigned staff in relevant skills.
- Support team proficiency and achievement of business objectives.
Budget and Performance Management
- Provide input for preparation of Upstream HQ budgets.
- Assist with implementation of approved budgets and work plans.
- Investigate and highlight significant variances to support performance management and cost control.
- Implement approved Group F&I policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures.
- Contribute to achievement of approved Upstream Group Company CFO performance commitments in line with Group F&I objectives.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Design and implement tools and techniques that improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
- Assess internal processes against relevant best practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial planning and reporting efficiency.
- Develop practical solutions to issues affecting the function in line with industry standards.
Management Reporting
- Consolidate and analyse monthly Upstream performance reports.
- Present key financial and performance highlights to Upstream and Group F&I Management to support decision-making.
- Prepare reports explaining significant variations.
- Develop recommendations for remedial action where required.
Internal and External Coordination
The role maintains working relationships with the VP Upstream Financial Planning and Budgeting and MI Reporting, Group Company CFOs and Finance teams, the F&I Financial Planning, Budgeting and Reporting Unit and the F&I Internal Controls Department. External interaction may include shareholders and external auditors when required.
Minimum Qualification
- Bachelor 's Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting.
Minimum Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- Minimum 10 years of experience across accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and cost-analysis activities.
- Strong experience within an Accounting and Finance discipline.
- Good knowledge of English and Arabic.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Good knowledge of ERP systems.
- Good working knowledge of budgeting systems including BPC and SAP.
