Job summary

Grand Mercure Dubai City, part of AccorHotels, seeks an experienced Financial Controller to lead financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting for a 5-star hotel. You will manage P&Ls across departments, monitor cash flow, and drive cost controls to optimize profitability.

The role requires strong leadership, UAE regulatory knowledge, and the ability to provide strategic financial insights to senior management and department heads.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting; ACCA/CPA/CMA an advantage.
• 5–7 years in Financial Controller or senior Finance role in a hotel.
• Strong knowledge of hotel accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost control.
• Proficiency in Excel and hotel finance systems.
• Understanding UAE financial regulations, VAT, tax, and standards.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Leadership and team-management experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee preparation and analysis of financial statements including department P&Ls across rooms, F&B, spa, and events.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting aligned with hotel operations and RevPAR metrics.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital and costs; identify efficiency opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with UAE tax regulations, VAT, labor laws, auditing standards, and policies.
• Provide strategic financial insights to senior management and department heads.
• Supervise and develop the finance team; enforce internal controls.

Job Description

• Oversee the preparation and analysis of comprehensive financial statements, including departmental P&Ls (rooms, F&B, spa, events) and monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with UAE accounting standards and requirements.
• Manage financial forecasting and budgeting processes aligned with hotel operations, including revenue projections based on occupancy rates, ADR, and RevPAR metrics to support strategic decision-making.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial performance across all revenue and cost centers, identifying opportunities for cost optimization and operational efficiency improvements.
• Ensure full compliance with UAE tax regulations, VAT requirements, labor law provisions, auditing standards, and hotel-specific financial policies and controls.
• Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior management and department heads, informed by industry trends and competitive benchmarking, to drive business strategy and operational improvements.
• Supervise and develop the finance team, establish internal controls, foster a culture of financial accountability and compliance throughout the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, or CMA is an advantage.
• Minimum 5–7 years of previous experience in a Financial Controller or senior Finance management role in a hotel is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of hotel accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial/accounting systems; experience with hotel finance systems.
• Good understanding of UAE financial regulations, VAT, tax requirements, and accounting standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior management and department heads.
• Strong leadership and team-management skills with the ability to develop and motivate the Finance team.
• High level of integrity, attention to detail, confidentiality, and commitment to financial controls and compliance.
