Overview
The Financial Controller will oversee all financial operations of the MEP/EPC company ensuring compliance with UAE laws IFRS standards and internal governance policies. This role is responsible for financial planning, risk management, cash flow monitoring, project cost control and reporting to senior management and the Board. The Financial Controller will act as a strategic partner to operations, ensuring accurate project accounting, profitability analysis and efficient allocation of resources.
Responsibilities
- Financial Management & Reporting: Oversee all financial accounting, project cost accounting and reporting functions. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and UAE regulations. Develop consolidated reporting across multiple projects and business units. Ensure accurate project revenue recognition, WIP (Work in Progress) and cost-to-complete calculations.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and cash flow projections. Monitor project budgets against actuals, highlighting variances and recommending corrective actions. Provide scenario analysis and financial models to support bidding, tenders and strategic decisions.
- Project Cost Control & Commercial Finance: Implement strong project cost controls across procurement, subcontractor payments and material usage. Ensure compliance with contract terms, milestone payments and variation orders. Collaborate with Project Managers and Commercial Managers to track project profitability.
- Compliance & Governance: Ensure compliance with UAE VAT regulations, corporate tax requirements and statutory audits. Liaise with external auditors, banks and regulatory authorities. Develop internal financial policies and ensure adherence to governance frameworks.
- Cash Flow & Treasury Management: Manage cash flow planning, banking relationships and credit facilities. Oversee accounts receivable collections and supplier payment cycles. Optimize working capital and project funding structures.
- Team Leadership & Systems: Lead and mentor finance and accounts teams, ensuring high-quality output. Implement ERP systems and financial reporting tools to improve accuracy and efficiency. Establish internal controls, approval matrices and risk management frameworks.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (Masters preferred).
- Professional qualification: CA, CPA, ACCA or CMA (mandatory).
- Minimum 8–12 years of experience with at least 5 years in the UAE within an MEP/EPC contracting company.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, project accounting and construction/engineering financial frameworks.
- Proven experience in managing cash flows for large-scale EPC/MEP projects.
- Experience in ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics or similar).
- Familiarity with UAE VAT, corporate tax and local banking regulations.
