Job summary

Forum Energy Technologies UAE seeks a Field Service Technician based primarily from a home location in Dubai, UAE or Oman, with 24-hour travel notice to service equipment locally and internationally.

You will repair and overhaul drilling equipment, work with PLC-based control panels, HMI/SCADA, and diagnostic tools, applying mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical skills on site and offshore as required.

Qualifications

• ONC/HNC qualification or time served in a Mechanical/Electrical/Hydraulic/Controls & Instrumentation discipline.
• Good knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, electronic, and software/controls systems including PLC-based panels and HMI interfaces used on drilling equipment.

Responsibilities

• Test and install Forum Energy Technologies drilling equipment on-site and offshore.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and calibrate electronic control systems and diagnostic tools.
• Provide equipment training to Customer employees after installation.
• Ensure operations follow Forum drilling guidelines and safety procedures.
• Submit job logs, expenses and surveys accurately and timely.

Job description

The position will predominantly be based at a home location within Dubai, UAE or Oman and on call with 24 hours’ notice to travel both locally and internationally to service the needs of Forum Energy Technologies. There will also be a requirement for the Field Service Technician to work within the Service department repairing and overhauling drilling oilfield equipment when and where required. Given the increasing use of electronic control systems and diagnostic software in modern drilling equipment, the role also requires the ability to work confidently with PLC-based control panels, HMI/SCADA interfaces, and associated diagnostic tools, in addition to core mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Work in a competent, safe and professional manner, to serve both internal and external customers both locally and internationally.
• Participate and contribute to successful testing and installation of all Forum Energy Technologies manufactured drilling equipment.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and calibrate electronic control systems, PLCs, and software-based diagnostic tools associated with Forum Energy Technologies drilling equipment.
• Promote a professional attitude while working with the client.
• Safe and timely installation of all Forum Energy Technologies manufactured drilling equipment on rig site.
• Provide specific equipment training to Customer employees after installation.
• Ensure all operations are carried out in line with Forum Energy Technologies drilling guidelines and procedures.
• Attending pre and post job meetings.
• Liaise with the customer reps to ensure their requirements are fully met.
• Ensure that all relevant paperwork including; job logs, expenses and equipment surveys are submitted in a timely and accurate manner.
• Attend various training courses when requested.
• Share knowledge with colleagues and assist in training; mentor less experienced personnel prior to going solo.
• Any other duties as directed by the service management team.
• Quality assurance - All staff are responsible for the completeness of their work and reporting any quality, or perceived quality problems through their line manager or direct to the QHSE Manager.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work alone in a very demanding and varying environment.
• Good health and safety awareness.
• Comfortable working with PLCs, HMI/SCADA interfaces, and diagnostic software used on drilling control systems.
• Willingness and ability to work at height, both onshore and offshore, in accordance with Forum HSE procedures.
• Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems and trouble shooting

Education & Experience

• ONC/HNC qualifications or time served in a Mechanical/Electrical/Hydraulic/Controls & Instrumentation discipline.

Required:

• Must successfully complete a Fit for Work assessment prior to commencing employment.
• Good knowledge and understanding of hydraulic, mechanical, electronic, and software/controls systems, including PLC-based control panels and HMI interfaces used on drilling equipment.
• Ability to travel to various locations internationally.
• Team player.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.

• Offshore survival.
• Offshore medical.
• Catwalk/Roughneck/Power Handling Tools experience
• Overseas travelling.
