Role Description

The Fiber Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Dubai, responsible for installing, terminating, and maintaining fiber optic cabling for ELV and home automation projects. Day-to-day tasks include pulling and routing fiber cables, performing splicing and testing, identifying and resolving connectivity issues, and ensuring all work complies with project specifications and safety standards. The role involves reading and interpreting technical drawings, collaborating with project engineers and other technicians, and documenting installation and maintenance activities. The Fiber Technician will also support system upgrades, assist in troubleshooting network performance problems, and provide input on best practices for fiber infrastructure within customer sites.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of fiber-related infrastructure, including Fibre and Optics, and understanding of fiber network design and performance.
• Hands-on experience working with Cables and Cabling, including pulling, terminating, labeling, and managing structured cabling in diverse environments.
• Demonstrated ability in Troubleshooting fiber links and connectivity issues using appropriate tools, diagnostics, and testing procedures.
• Familiarity with ELV systems (e.g., CCTV, access control, networking) and how fiber integrates into broader low-voltage and automation solutions.
• Ability to read technical drawings, floor plans, and cable schedules, and follow installation standards and safety protocols.
• Relevant technical diploma or certification in telecommunications, networking, or fiber optics; vendor or industry fiber certifications are an advantage.
• Previous field experience as a Fiber Technician or in a similar cabling/telecom role, preferably within commercial or residential projects.
• Effective communication skills, attention to detail, and capacity to work both independently and as part of a site-based team in Dubai.
