Faculty provide effective instruction in the HCT's Bachelor of Education program, which is specifically focused on Early Childhood Education (spanning from birth to eight years of age). Curriculum is taught to second language learners within a student-centric learning environment that fosters respect for students, their culture, and their traditions. Faculty play an important role in assisting with the development and preservation of system-wide and directorate-specific policies, and are viewed as active participants in academic and extra-curricular events at the College and within the community.
Requirements
Faculty Role :
- Must have Early Childhood Education qualifications and experience.
- Draw on competency-based approaches to teach courses aligned with program goals to meet the needs of students and the community.
- Develop and utilize educational technology resources to ensure effective and innovative instruction methodologies.
- Apply and create strategies to ensure effective student learning within a second-language environment, providing continuous feedback through assessments such as tests, projects, and assignments.
- Adopt a student-centered approach, providing individual assistance and promptly addressing student issues by liaising with students, supervisors, and other College personnel.
- Support and mentor students during internships and work placements.
- Serve as a student advisor as assigned.
- Monitor student progress and take actions to support student success.
Academic Role :
- Prepare teaching assignments in advance and present materials appropriately to support student success.
- Develop course curriculum under guidance, ensuring relevance and adherence to accreditation and international standards.
- Contribute to program and course reviews, providing recommendations based on feedback from students, colleagues, and external agencies.
- Participate in monitoring programs, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing College and system-wide policies and procedures.
- Participate in extra-curricular activities and community events.
- Revise curriculum as needed based on assessment data and industry advice.
- Respect and incorporate the customs and cultures of HCT students and employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chair.
Academic Qualifications :
- PhD in a relevant discipline.
- Professional teaching qualification including methodology and supervised practical teaching (e.g., B.Ed., PGCE, M.Teach).
- Additional academic qualifications as required.
- HCT may consider flexibility for UAE National candidates to support Emiratization efforts.
Skills and Experience :
- At least 3 years of practical teaching experience in relevant educational settings.
- At least 3 years of experience in a teacher education department at a tertiary level or equivalent, including mentoring trainees or new teachers.
- Expertise in curriculum development and instructional strategies with Educational Technology.
