Job description

Job Purpose:

The Facility Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations and maintenance of facilities, ensuring that they meet the needs of the organization and its employees. This role includes managing facility resources, maintaining safety standards, coordinating building services, and overseeing procurement processes.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and security systems.
  • Provide technical support on procurement contracts relating to the facility including preparing technical specifications, evaluating technical proposals and advising the Procurement team during supplier selection.
  • Develop and manage the facility budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Review and evaluate tenders for facility-related services and products, ensuring they meet organizational standards and budget constraints.
  • Manage the procurement process for facility services and supplies, including negotiating contracts and terms with vendors.
  • Plan and manage space allocations and use within the facility.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans.
  • Supervise maintenance staff and coordinate training for facility operations.
  • Prepare reports on facility conditions, maintenance issues, and budget status.

Education/ Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in facility management, engineering, or a related field.
  • Certified Facility Manager, Facility Management Professional (e.g. IFMA) is a plus. NEBOSH certification is a plus
