Job Description
- Lead quality control initiatives to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions in welding processes.
- Coordinate procurement of materials and equipment necessary for fabrication and welding tasks, ensuring timely availability.
- Conduct safety meetings and enforce compliance with health and safety regulations across all fabrication activities.
- Maintain accurate records of work activities, materials used, and labor hours for reporting and cost management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve fabrication and welding issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain workflow efficiency.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to understand project requirements and provide technical input.
- Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to welders and fabricators, fostering skill development and improving team performance.
- Inspect and evaluate completed work to ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory standards in ship repair.
- Develop and implement work schedules to optimize productivity and meet project deadlines without compromising safety.
- Oversee all welding and fabrication operations on-site, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
Desired Candidate Profile
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in fabrication and welding, specifically in the ship repair industry.
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent certification is highly desirable to ensure quality assurance.
- Proven experience in supervising teams in a dynamic maritime environment, demonstrating leadership and conflict resolution skills.
- Familiarity with various welding techniques and processes, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding, tailored for marine applications.
- Strong understanding of marine safety regulations and compliance standards to ensure a safe working environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings, translating them into actionable tasks for the team.
- Fluency in English is essential, with proficiency in additional languages being an advantage for international projects.
- Hands-on experience with welding and fabrication tools and machinery, showcasing technical expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards and meeting tight deadlines.
