Job DescriptionFabrication Coordinator (FPSO project)PURPOSE:Fabrication Coordinator to oversee and coordinate the fabrication of piping and structural components for a major FPSO project. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in welding procedures (WPS/PQR), structural steel and piping fabrication, and coordination with multi-disciplinary teams. Experience with offshore projects or marine modules is highly preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate daily fabrication activities related to piping and structural steel in accordance with project specifications and schedules.
- Ensure all fabrication work adheres to approved WPS, PQR, and ITPs.
- Interface with welding inspectors, QA/QC teams, and third-party inspectors to ensure quality and compliance.
- Monitor welding and fabrication progress, identify bottlenecks, and propose corrective actions.
- Review and verify material availability and readiness for fabrication activities.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of fabrication yards, workshops, and subcontractors.
- Support the resolution of technical issues related to welding, fit-up, and dimensional control.
- Ensure HSE compliance and participate in toolbox talks and safety reviews.
- Prepare and maintain fabrication status reports, NCR logs, and progress trackers.
- Coordinate handover packages and support pre-commissioning and commissioning teams as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in fabrication coordination for oil & gas/offshore projects (FPSO experience preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of WPS, PQR, ITPs, welding symbols, and international codes (ASME, AWS, ISO).
- Hands-on experience in piping spools, structural steel modules, skids, and platforms.
- Familiar with fabrication yard operations, NDT methods, and hydrostatic testing.
- Proficient in reading fabrication drawings, isometrics, and GA drawings.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with vendors, subcontractors, and project teams.
- Certifications such as CSWIP 3.1/3.2, AWS-CWI, or NDT Level II are a plus.
- Knowledge of MS Office, AutoCAD, and fabrication tracking tools.
