Job Title: European Power Brokers
Location: EMEA | London, Dubai, Europe [multiple regional European offices]
Imperium Commodity Search is exclusively retained by one of the worlds largest Energy & Commodities Brokerages, with offices in over 20 countries worldwide, seeking Power Brokers for the European and UK Markets to join their established team in their EMEA Offices, ideally London. With a long history of success and a staggering volume of open lines, our client is able to offer immediate market access and longstanding clientele to incoming brokers, in addition to on-boarded/ported relationships/business.
The firm provides broking and high quality, value-added execution services for Swaps, Forwards, Options, Physical Oil, Refined Petroleum Products, Futures Contracts and Renewables.
The Role:
We are looking for experienced brokers, as individuals or as a team, with a proven track record in the energy brokerage industry, to focus on brokering European Power contracts, including Electricity, Natural Gas, Coal and Weather Derivatives, servicing customers in these markets to generate additional revenue. The role will require the individual to develop and maintain strong client relationships, as well as identifying prospective new clients, predominantly focusing on the EMEA territories, to contribute to the ongoing success of the desk. In addition, the individual may also be required to cover other broker desks as required.
Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain and develop existing client relationships and actively drive business development through networking and outreach to push desk revenues across the European Power business.
  2. Provide timely and accurate execution services to producers, trading houses, funds and institutional clients across Electricity, Natural Gas, Coal and Weather derivatives.
  3. Keep up-to-date knowledge of the products and markets in which you work and provide accurate market analysis, reports, pricing spreads, research and industry news across the Power and wider Energy markets to the desk and counterparties. Ability to cross reference analysis from research houses and platforms such as Reuters, Bloomberg etc.
  4. Understand the desk's and group business strategy and seek to identify new business opportunities relating to trends, future markets, products and clients.
  5. Work with internal on-boarding/compliance teams for opening new lines, adhering to compliance requirements at all times.
  6. Establish and act upon cross-sell opportunity, utilising the firm's extremely broad asset class coverage in energy and commodities/fx.
Experience:
  1. 3+ years experience as a European Power Broker in an IDB/FCM execution environment.
  2. Excellent knowledge of the energy markets within your niche (electricity, natural gas, coal, etc.).
  3. Proven track record of managing multiple client types in trade execution within the power market.
  4. Transferable contacts/counterparties across trading houses, producers, funds, institutional clients, market makers etc.
  5. Strong commercial focus with excellent communication skills.
