Job summary

Alpago is seeking an Estimation Engineer to develop accurate cost and quantity estimates for joinery works and support tendering processes from take-off to submission. You will review client drawings, perform BOQ take-offs, and ensure alignment with project specifications.

The ideal candidate has 8–10 years of estimation experience in joinery or interior fit-out, strong knowledge of materials and methods, and proficiency in AutoCAD and Excel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design or a related field.
  • 8-10 years of estimation experience, preferably in joinery, interior fit-out, or furniture manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of joinery materials, construction methods, and industry specifications.
  • Proficiency in take-off and estimation software, MS Excel, and AutoCAD (drawing interpretation).
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Good communication skills for coordination with clients, consultants, and internal departments. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple estimates/deadlines simultaneously.

Job description

The Estimation Engineer is responsible for producing accurate, timely, and well-documented cost and quantity estimates for joinery works, ensuring alignment with client, consultant, and project specifications, and supporting the tendering and variation order process from take-off through to submission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review received presentations, drawings, layouts, and details from the client, and suggest practical alternatives before proceeding to the estimation.
  • Ensure accuracy of cost and quantity estimates for joinery works in line with client, consultant, and project requirements and specifications.
  • Carry out comparison of estimates versus actual costs and conduct variance analysis to improve future estimating accuracy.
  • Perform correct quantity take-offs from drawings and prepare accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
  • Maintain proper documentation of all assumptions and exclusions made during the estimation process.
  • Prepare and submit estimates for tenders and variation orders in a timely manner.
  • Work efficiently and meet deadlines under pressure, including tight tender submission timelines.
  • Provide prompt responses to Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and clarification requests from clients or consultants.
  • Follow up on pending approvals or feedback from clients/consultants and maintain proper records of correspondence and status.
  • Prepare and maintain a unit rate list for standard items to support faster and more consistent estimation.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
