Job Description
- Conduct detailed cost estimation for civil engineering projects in the oil and gas sector, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and contracts to develop comprehensive tender proposals that reflect project requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to gather necessary data and insights for precise estimation and proposal preparation.
- Identify potential risks and uncertainties in projects, providing mitigation strategies and alternative solutions during the tendering process.
- Prepare and present bid documentation, including detailed pricing breakdowns, to stakeholders and clients, ensuring clarity and transparency.
- Stay updated on market trends and procurement strategies to enhance competitiveness in the tendering process.
- Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure the best value and compliance with project specifications.
- Utilize estimation software and tools to streamline the estimation process and improve accuracy in cost forecasting.
- Participate in post-bid reviews and lessons learned sessions to continuously improve estimation practices and methodologies.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers to foster collaboration and enhance business opportunities.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; advanced degrees are a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in estimation for oil and gas construction projects.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Cost Estimator/Analyst (CCEA) or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Proficiency in industry-standard estimation software like Primavera, CostX, or similar tools.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail to ensure accurate cost assessments.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey complex information.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Strong negotiation skills to effectively engage with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Familiarity with local and international construction codes, regulations, and standards in the oil and gas industry.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage for international projects.
