Job description

Orbit International Survey Services LLC is actively looking for a Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team. The Mechanical Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for quantifying actual work in accordance with contractual terms comparing with bid quantities and preparing re-measurement reports variation proposals and invoices. The role ensures compliance with project specifications deadlines and commercial requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with the company s policies systems and procedures to maintain controlled and compliant project execution.
  • Follow all Health Safety Security and Environmental (HSSE) protocols as well as Information Security standards to uphold a safe and secure workplace.
  • Analyze scope of work review contract documentation and evaluate related correspondence for clarity and alignment.
  • Estimate man-hours per trade in accordance with project scope bid documentation and established norms.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and collaborate with Engineering and Trade teams to prepare accurate re-measurement reports.
  • Submit re-measurement reports and variation proposals in line with contractual terms and timelines.
  • Conduct on-site inspections to validate completed works and assist in drafting variation claims.
  • Support the Cost Engineer in sourcing and negotiating with lump-sum contractors ensuring clarity of scope and pricing agreements.
  • Verify subcontractor invoices to confirm compliance with agreed scopes and rates.
  • Foster effective collaboration with clients subcontractors and internal teams to ensure smooth project communication.
  • Attend meetings with clients and stakeholders to clarify and support submitted claims and reports.
  • Oversee junior staff to ensure timely accurate and compliant completion of tasks.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities that enhance efficiency reduce costs and boost productivity in alignment with best practices.
  • Prepare and deliver timely accurate reports to the Commercial Department per company requirements.
  • Comply with all safety quality and environmental regulations and report any observed non-compliance or risks during field activities.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned to support department and project objectives.

Requirements
  • Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Marine or Naval Architecture.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role preferably in shipyard or oil & gas construction.
  • Strong command of English (written and spoken); additional languages a plus.
  • Skilled in interpreting engineering drawings and using tools like AutoCAD and MS Office.
  • Familiarity with marine or industrial construction environments is essential.
